Very good chapter. The picture-smashing scene is very strong, and gives a profound significance to this visit back to their house.

Thank you. I always appreciate your comments.

It's hard to believe some people would treat their friends like they were the killers and not just the husband, but some people like to kick people when they're down. I think that they are almost as bad as the murderer. Great chapter and I saw no spags.

This is a great chapter. You describe everything in such a way that the reader can actually see the scene. Very good dialogue and the story flows along smoothly.

I've really enjoyed this high-powered chapter. You show incredible insight into the emotions behind the characters. It was like being in the room. Well done â?? can't wait for more!

A very emotionally filled chapter near the end and a great release for the whole family. It's a shame but the messages you included are what I would expect would be received by the family of the man responsible for the murder of 12 girls. You did a great job showing the anger, how it can sneak up on you. I also like how you showed James' anger being a catalyst for Mom's anger release as well. Very nicely done!
One thing, check your quotation marks. You have an errant one haunting this chapter (naughty quotation marks, popping up in the most annoying places sometimes).

Valerie, What a moving and awful scene as they shatter the family photos - and how horrific as they listen to the message machine. To be at such a vulnerable time in their lives and to feel attacked from without as well as betrayed from within... you do such a compelling job of describing this impossible situation and what it must be doing to each and every one of them. Yes, it is beyond most of our reality to even comprehend what something like this must be like for the families. It is an impossible situation, but one they have no choice but to deal with as best they can.

Hi, Sasha. This is an amazing chapter (wish I could give you a six). Here are the things I admire most: Mom's development from a robot to a human; the episode of crashing the photo frames; Mac's human side when he tells James to let Charlie comfort Mom.
Sorry Sasha, these are my reviewer's notes:
told at me --> looked at me; told me (?)
" after James' monologue
Susan needs someone in her live --> life

Go0od heavens, never apologize for pointing out errors or spags!!! That's is why I came to this site...to get help with my lousy grammar and even worse spelling. Thanks for the great review and keeping me on the straight and narrow.

Another great chapter in the ongoing saga of this family.
I guess, I came into the story half way through the first time.
I am so pleased to be able to read it from the beginning.
Jame's sense of self is impressive in a boy so young. For all of his trauma, he knows who he is.

Being so smart and spending most of his time by himself has given him a stronger sense of who he is than most kids his age. I am patterning his character after two geniuses I know, both are hysterically funny, obviously brilliant, and neither has a clue how to interact with society. They just blurt out whatever they are thinking. I love them dearly. I spend most of my time laughing while they try to explain complicated, unintelligible, stuff about physics and quantum whatever you call it. Glad you like this story and are continuing to follow it.

Sasha, you know how to evoke emotion. I would like to strangle those idiots who are blaming the family for a serioal killer's actions. Some people were born with a stupid gene. I understand why people feel it necessary to move away from their homes; the pressure would be too much. I still say this book would make for a great movie.

Most do move away, many change their names, some families' loyalties are divided and some actually commit suicide. I have read a few books written by children of serial killers but really didn't find much honest, open expression of what they experienced. Some were written for the money, others to help lift the burden they were carrying. Glad you continue to follow this. Lots more to come.
