This time you tricked me again. No, Wendy did. Ha-ha, clever child. Even ice cream won't make her eat those beans. Humorous surprise ending. I laugh with both men.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!! CAROL! You will not believe me. BUT TO THIS DAY MY 21 YEAR OLD SON, SAM, STILL DOES THIS VERY THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I STILL SAY, "Where are those beets?" or, "Where are those grapes I put on your plate?" AND I FIND THEM LATER, under the sofa, down in the garbage disposal, beneath flower pots. AND HE IS TWENTY ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO, this wonderful little tale hits close to home for me, and I am going to make Sam read this too!!!!! PLUS you have written it with your wonderful style and humor!!! VERY good Carol! susan

Awesome.....
My sweet little daughter will earn her master's degree this summer and she still doesn't eat green beans...I had to keep a straight face while the teacher scolded us on her choice of hiding the beans...but I think I laughed all the way home. Smiles, Carol

Carol,
Excellent children's story about green beans. I always like green beans but I eat them the Southern way with bacon and onions. As a kid and an adult the one vegetable I hate is Brussel sprouts. Nasty. I can understand why Wendy hid her green beans. Too bad you didn't enter the contest this story would have been a contender. The dialogue and descriptive scheme are spot on. Thanks for sharing your cute story. The moral is don't tell kids they can't do something they'll find a way to use tricks. The sad puppy eyes work if all else doesn't
Melissa.

It was difficult to stand in front of the strict teacher and not laugh...though I think I remember laughing all the way home. Thanks for the review. Carol

I loved this. This sounds like something I would do as a kis, Who am I kidding. I would still do it now if I thought I would get away with it. Great story. You always tell your stories so well. Good luck in the contest, Shirley

This was great.
Those little sneaks.
Now I'll eat green beans for Ice Cream, but if you toss carrots my way---they might end up between the folds as well.
Great job!

LOL, I won't tell if you
won't. What a perfect
story. Charming is a mild
description of this tale.
Your narratives and dialogues
were spot on and the smiles
you've created are priceless.

Ha! Nice little story with a funny surprise ending, Carol. What's not to like about that? Perfect title, terrific artwork. Nicely done!
Two suggestions you might want to consider:
1. "Ice cream will be served Friday if everyone --"
"... if everyone eats their vegetables this week."
Would use the same punctuation to end one sentence and begin the other. Two sets of ellipses, perhaps?
2. "What about Wendy? She never eats green beans," several whined.
Unlikely that more than one child made this statement. Would change tag to "someone whined" or even "someone said".
Small stuff, to be sure. Didn't affect my enjoyment of your story, in any event! Thanks for sharing...Jim.

Where do you get your good ideas from! This is very unusual, but a lot of fun to read. Children are so inventive. I enjoyed this one, it gave me a chuckle.
