Wow, I really like this poem! Most pieces that I read that try to combine "fantasy" with Christianity fall in the category of "cheesy" or just plain stupid, but this one is really great - definitely worth 5 stars. Thank you for sharing this with us!

How beautifully uplifting this writing is, as it tells such a wonderful story of faith. This poem can be enjoyed by all ages. Also, thank you for your note about "The Holly and the Ivy", a carol with which I am unfamiliar. Merry, Joyous Christmas. Mary

Certainly, you've thrown another character into the mix, in this charming little Christmas story. My own thought is that it does at least also include God and other elements of the nativity story - which, sadly, most Christmas stories today do not. The addition of a fairy will maybe prevent readers from dismissing it immediately, thinking it to be a story that they've already read. I don't believe that you have diluted the Christmas message.

thank you - I am so glad you think that as it would never be my intention to dilute this most wonderful of stories - I just wanted one more creature to take part! Brooke

Thanks for sharing your work with the rest of us. I enjoyed the read and the story your words took me on with the fairy and her call from God to prepare for the coming of His son.
One thing did cause a bit of a stir within, only because it would lead the story of our Lord and Saviour into fantasy and imagination, rather than the realm of truth. Already He is being regarded as a myth, imaginary, regardless of historical facts. The generations coming do not know that, and soon the fairy will become more than Jesus. Look at christmas. Santa's day but Jesus' birth? Mind you reality is, it's not really the birth of Jesus anyway, but as you can see, it only takes a little to turn a whole lot bad. You know the saying, one bad apple ruins the crop. I was communing with our Lord at the time and He gave me the understanding I needed to remain in love, and override the sadness that brings with it anger when anything of His is tarnished in any way, regardless of whether it is big or small. The world is made up of truths from God through Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit, that have been turned into lies, and what really gets me is that God's own do it as well. (Sorry to give this long spiel but I know from what Jesus gave me to keep me in the same place as He, was His love for you and the blessed angel you are to Him. I understand that for many in this world to get it, parables or stories are given, but in the end it still gives a different image and perception in ones mind.)
Apart from all that though, this is well worded, well expressed, has a good flow and rhythmn to it, and the imagery shows a wondrous picture of the fairy (whom I like to now see as an angel of God) and the birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Thanks again and many blessings to you

I tend to see God as a most benign creator, who would adore the fairies he made along with all His other creatures - I mean no disrespect to the Nativity story and don't think I've actually much tampered with it - I've just added one tiny creature to the mix, who obeys God's commands faithfully in the spirit of loving God and loving others. I do hope no offense was taken. Thank you, Brooke :-)

Thanks for your observation, which is why it took me a while to reply to you when I first wrote. You have already shared your affinity with fairies and the like and I think it is wonderful that you have such imaginings to keep you where you are, but fairies did not come from God, they came about thousands of years ago when people were very spiritual and sensitive to things around them. All mythical creatures were conjured up in these times, these were the dark ages. Today we live in the new age which embraces everything including the things not of God. I know we all have our own relationship with God, but I also know my purpose and the gifts given from heaven through the Holy Spirit. I know when you finish reading my comment you will regard this as another person's view and will continue to hold your own belief system, and that is fine for it is your choice, but for me, I would not be doing my duty or purpose on this earth to not point it out. Once I have done this, it is no longer my responsiblity but the one who has received it. I have now done this. I hope this does not interfere with the fanstory relationship because I love reading your thoughts, view and concept, after all I am also human and have my thoughts as well. My God loves all mankind regardless of where they are at, what they believe or do not believe. I do not mean to offend you, for that is not in my character to do, I just felt compelled to point a truth out, what you do with it is yours alone, and what comes comes. Many blessings to you

there is absolutely no reason this would interfere with our relationship - I have friendships with people who are of just about religious and spiritual belief in the spectrum. I honor your commitment to your beliefs and admire your expression of them so passionately!

The art work was superb which worked well within your words.
Your words showed us another way to look at the time, when Jesus was born. I loved the fairy and the task this fairy had.

Beautiful words, message and hope for us all.

These are lovely, thoughtful words, Brigette. Nicely put together and has a very peaceful rhythm. It came across when I was reading it aloud like a lullaby. Very nice colours chosen and the lone star in the abstract background added to the peaceful feel to the poem.

this was a very nice poetic story. You relayed this piece in good free flowing thoughts. Your form and format were just right for this well written verse. There is nothing to dislike or to suggest for change in it. This was my pleasure to have read and reviewed it... John

A break from traditional Christmas poety and a reminder that God can use all in His plan. Your color sceme matches the words so well, red for the berries, green for the holly and white for snow/purity.

Fantastic poem. Re-telling the story of the star over Bethlehem and the shepherds in the fields, some things are best left alone but you have don such a wonderful job of joining the Christmas songs together, "While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks" and "The Holly and The Ivy". Beautiful work Kay

Lovely image, appropriate. Nice color scheme and presentation. Good use of rhythm and rhyme. (I like your spelling of wee-est. It would indeed look odd as weeest.) A wonderful tale in a lovely form. Kudos and blessings.
