This is definitely a timely Halloween poem that is an acrostic for Haunted House. It sure seems to fit the writing prompt. How eerie and ironic to have a character named Happy go the other direction entirely. Sounds like that particular gang messed with the wrong clown!

Hi Crystie, I am not sure what happened in that haunted house because something sure changed. Happy was supposed to stay happy and I do not even remember when it turned dark. But it was sure fun being on the dark side for a change,,, after all it is the season. Thanks for the fun review.

Clowns should be illegal. There is nothing creepier in a child's mind (at least mine!) than a painted fake smile. WHAT is he hiding?
Anyway, your poem proves it. Not only is his smile faked, but his name. Happy....should be Creepy! Look what he did for revenge???

Here where I come there is a clown school in our town. Clowns are a big part of area and yet we all still get freaked about them. The weird thing Julie, I have never written anything dark before now. It started that Happy was going to stay a happy clown and midway through something changed in me and I could see a revenge thing going. And I tamed him down. At first I had them thrown into a bottomless pit. At least now maybe they can get out for good behavior. LOL

You silly boy, Nomi! This is so far out of my comfort zone that I do not watch horror movies, would not allow my kids to watch them, I never made horror type costumes for them, and we just didn't do the blood and guts thing here.

There is nothing to forgive. A writer is capable of writing in any genre that he chooses. For me, I choose to avoid real blood and guts type stories. I fail to see the problem with anything involving clowns, as I only laugh when I see a clown, even one that tries to be threatening.

You've written a perfect two-word Acrostic while maintaining an AABB rhyme throughout.
I know enough about the King novel to get the reference to "It"-- The (Man, now that was one psycho clown!)
The repeated "happy's" are very effective!
Great Halloween orange color and surely a contender (although I never know if all of these prompts are voted on or just some)

That's called "Coulrophobia" for reasons I've never understood.
You've written a perfect two-word Acrostic while maintaining an AABB rhyme throughout.

Hey K, This poem started out happy and I had not a clue where I was going with it. And I am not at all the horror type and don't even watch movies like that. So how it turned violent, I don't know. But when it did it seemed more Halloweenish. That and after the poor clown got beaten up and that is when he seeked revenge. I don't know as it is my first time writing anything like this. But thanks for noticing that I had emphasized the happy part on purpose. Because it was a bit of a happy killing poem. Haha.
Thanks for getting it and when you can't sleep from the nightmares, I know a Happy place for you to go Awhoooooooooooo. Is that supposed to sound spooky? Hahahaaha.

Hey, spooky. Ya did good...I've been watching a lot of the Walking Dead seasons on Netflix. Just in time for Halloween,which I always viewed as a fun time of year.
I'm actually decorating Jackson's room for when he comes up for a weekend in a few weeks (nothing scary, he's only 6).

Happy softened a little since you read him. I think I shocked too many people with my horror. You know, I have never written anything really dark before and it was kinda fun. LOL. I am not even a horror movie watcher. I get nightmares from them . So this was different from me.

I've never written a horror anything in my life. My kids were not allowed to watch those kinds of movies because we hated them. I would not let them dress in any of those kinds of costumes. SO WHAT HAPPENED??
Who knew I had a dark side to me. I had no idea where I was going with the poem and all of a sudden I had the urge to go a little darker. And it was kinda fun for something different. That will teach those bullies. Hahaha.
After all it was for Halloween. LOL
