This was an adorably cute story about love at first sight. An old friend of mine and her husband said they fell in love with their first meeting over fifty years ago. My daughter and her husband who met eight years ago, claim that after a couple of dates, they knew they would be together forever. They're in their fifties and have been married two years.

Your story is a young woman's romantic dream.

I believe Mike stole my heart the first time he "died" in my backyward as Mikey shot him, playing Sheriff..... though it would be fifteen years before we knew it. LOL We were always the best of friends, but circumstances made it just that. then life changed and so did we.

cute, cute, cute! I really like this one. short, sweet, and humorous ending. You are really on a writing roll! Have you ever thought about, or have you written a book of short stories? You have a good amount of them. And if I've asked you this before, please pardon. My memory is not the greatest.
Anyway, a neat flash fiction! Is this a contest? If so, good luck.

Yes, I have often thought about combining them into a book...and one of these days I might actually do it. I am so thrilled that everyone, including you, is enjoying my shorts. I didn't enter the contest... I was going to but then when it came time to post...I forgot. There's that aging memory for you!

Good story, with lots of promise of a future relationship at the end. I like the final line; it brought a smile. I like the humor of his question as she entered the train. Smiles & hugs! Carol

Great photo, perfect for this romantic story. Sounds like a promising beginning - and sometimes that's where love begins, in the most unlikely of circumstances.

Yes it does...Mine began in my backyard with my four year old son shooting the neighbor...We became best friends and 15 years later, life changed and we became much more. Thanks for the review, Wendy.

Wonderful visual! I can practically feel that water on my feet. And your short story is such a feel-good one that warms the heart (if not the feet!) Another excellent read, Carol. Thank you. Debbie

Thanks, Debbie! Yes, cold rain water was once fun, splashing in the puddles, but not anymore. I wouldn't be able to stop my teeth from chattering. Thanks for the review and kindness.

Hah!
What a believable snapshot of the potential for "love at first sight!" Who knows? Stranger things have happened; that's for certain.
Wholesome.
Believable.
Enjoyable.

Thank you for sharing!
fondly,
diane
(Will we ever know for certain?) :)

I go from scaring the socks off of the reader to leaving them all mushy and thinking about love. Even I wonder where my brain will wonder next. Thanks so much for the review, Diane.

This is the perfect beginning to the perfect love story. I love this, the stress and running in the train station, the meeting of the unexpected potential love of your life after the worst morning.
Being late this time had a very positive outcome!
Well done
Best Wishes
Nicki

You guys are really messing with my mind, Marilyn...now I can blame it on you and Patrick when someone says I've lost it. I go from scaring myself half to death (locking my doors) and turning around and writing something sappy. Who knew that there was more than one of me living inside this brain? LOL

Talk about sliding doors, not believing in love at first sight doesn't necessarily mean that it won't happen, particularly when, or if it does. Then it is sure. As my wife and I had a chance meeting, 54 years later we are still together. I think it can be a God thing, He's the best one to know. Beautifully written, blessings Roy

I know that God had a hand in my relationship with Mike....After choosing the wrong men earlier, I chose the "bad boy" or he chose me and we ended up living happily ever after.
