Hi, estory!!
It's been a long time. I left the site for five years only coming back in May. I hope you are well
Yes. Hula hoops, pogo sticks give way to other toys. But, why? They're just as fun now as they were when I was a child. It puts the kid outside getting fresh air and sunshine. Most of the kids today just play video games, nonstop and that does not give them any exercise, sunshine or fresh air.
I think the ending was powerful and summed up the entire poem. That's what an ending is supposed to do unless it's a surprise ending.
If I were a parent, I would force the kids to go outside without their phones for at least an hour every day, hopefully longer. I would take their phone out of reach or lock it away.
Hopefully they wouldn't be so disobedient as to take it out and use it again before going outside.
I enjoyed reading your poem

Thanks for the excellent review and your comments about the poem. I think you are spot on. Kids today sit in their rooms and watch reelz videos and play video games. You don't see them riding bikes or playing in the yard the way we used to do. They are going down the rabbit hole into an empty world. I think we would be better off without social media. It does more harm than good. It is a platform for criminals, terrorists, rioters and gossipers. estory

I agree with you about Facebook

This poem, Gold, reminds the readers of all the fortune-making dingdongs that came along way back then. Nowadays though, the world has become so fake and full of liars, that cryptocurrencies have become the new junk bonds and truth is a matter of opinion.

Thanks for the excellent review and your perspective on the poem. We are uncomfortable in our own skins, we are always looking for something we can't seem to find, satisfaction that eludes us. The man made world is an unsatisfying world. Only God can fill the void. estory
