Street Art or Pornography?

When the city won't deal with a problem, others will.

As we were driving outside the neighborhood, we came across several considerable pot holes in the street. One is located right in the center of the road, making it almost impossible to miss. I was cursing the borough for not getting around to fixing them, as they have been a problem for the better part of a year.

Strong overall

    Hello Nicole,
thanks for taking the time to read this post. It's kind of a rant on the one hand I suppose. I don't know why our elected officials can't just do their job without the citizens having to resort to outlandish means. Human nature I guess.
    Have a blessed day.

ROFL! Well, as the saying goes, "Whatever works." I mean, it seems to have been productive. But like you, I can't advocate painting penises on the roadways. How would a person know whether to paint a minnow or a salami. :-) Thanks for sharing.

    Hi Ric,
Isn't it a sad state of affairs that people have to resort to extreme means in order to get the attention of the city though? What ever happened to this country? We used to pride ourselves on being the best, now we're sliding into third world country status.
As for size, I suppose the more outlandish, the quicker the city would be motivated to fix the problem. Thanks for the great review buddy.
    Have a blessed day.

Finally, something productive to steer dick pic power. Of course, in our county, there would be a pothole, a penis painting, and then a few trah bags from passing cars. All of this would be next to a deer carcass rotting on the roadside.

    Hello Bill,
I'm still laughing at your response to this post. Unfortunately, you're probably more correct than not. I kind of like to go pick up the trash that ends up along side our roads, but would prefer that people just keep it in their cars until they get home. Hopefully pornographic street art won't become the normal, but you never know. Thanks so much for the hilarious review.
    Have a blessed day.

    Hello Rachelle,
thanks so much for the exceptional review gal. I'm delighted that you enjoyed this so much. While it's an inventive way to deal with a common problem, it's nonetheless unfortunate that folks have reached the level of frustration that they felt the need to express themselves in such a way. I wonder how effective it would be if it became a common practice across the country? I hope it doesn't come to that. There would probably be contests to see who could come up with the most graphic or colorful artwork.

Huh, and I thought that was a picture of a skinny penis with wings. You can even see the two little balls, which I guess are its eyes.

Seriously, I'm glad you decided to post this story, Tom, of a very clever way to get action from city hall. Whoever came up with that idea is brilliant!

    Hi Jim,
I can relate to the frustration that folks feel when dealing with the government, at almost any level. What the heck are they doing with the money that they're collecting, except giving themselves nice salaries? As the saying goes, desperate times require desperate measures. Have a blessed day.

I must admit I agree with, I think our town councils must work pretty well, there's not too many potholes that I'm aware, but that's a good reason to paint phallic symbols, well done Tom, blessings Roy

    Hi Roy,
thanks so much for the great review. I wonder if warmer climates suffer with the issues as much as colder climates? We get a lot of frost heaves in the winter, and all the freezing and thawing seems to be hard on the roads. Of course having large trucks and equipment traveling on the roads takes a toll too. It sounds like your government may be more noble than ours when it comes to taking care of the citizens. Have a blessed day.

We have local councils Tom, but yes, our roads suffer with lots of rain, but that?s infrequent, your cold weather would be the reason. Bless you

Sometimes when our words won't rattle the cages of those responsible for fixing things, we have to take a stronger approach. I don't advocate the genitalia either, but it most certainly got their attention before the problem "hurt" their pocket.

    Hello Carol,
thanks so much for the thoughtful review. I don't know why people have to resort to such extreme measures in order for the city to do what they are collecting taxes for to begin with. One thing is certain, potholes in Ketchikan suddenly got a lot more attention.

That's a hoot and yet I think of our inner cities where porn is so rampant, if given the idea, the citizens would likely be digging holes in the road to be excited for their commutes.

    Hi Tom,
you might have a point there. There could be an explosion in rentals of excavators and can's of spray paint would be flying off the shelves at Home Depot. I'd prefer they just fix the problem without folks having to resort to extremes though.
    Blessings,

I think is pretty funny and not a bad idea. Making it something offensive would be more likely be something that would get the job done. The dragonfly is too neat. I know at school if a kid drew or wrote something offensive on a bathroom wall, the graffiti was more quickly painted over.

    Hi Beth,
you're so right. Perhaps it was one of the kids responsible for the bathroom art that got the idea of decorating the potholes. If the city still didn't deal with the issue, perhaps the phone number of the mayor would get the job done.

Your grandson has painted some "pretty suspect pictures of lighthouses" - LOL! That gave me a good laugh.

I thought the dragonfly was meant to be a "suspect replacement" for a penis:-)

A very funny read, Tom. Let us know if you grab some florescent paint and follow through on those thoughts.

P.S. Hope your company has gone home and left you in peace.

    Hi Pam,
no, the dragonfly just happened to be on Fan Art with the picture of the pothole, so I guess I got lucky to be able to find it. My grandson has long since grown up, so I hope he's learned how to draw better by now, if he should choose to do so. I rather doubt that I'll resort to painting pornography on the streets, but you never know. I have thought of buying some quick drying cement and fixing a few of the holes close by, but first I might just threaten the city with some street porn.
Daughters number three and four are leaving tonight with their families, so peace will settle on the land again. It was good to see everyone, but it does interrupt the flow of things.
