A very wise message in this 5-7-5 poem. it seems there are a lot of lies
flying around now days. Especially in politics, but also in advertising.
We need to teach our children "to recognize lies"
Good luck in the contest,
Nancy

Thank you Nancy. If a lie is repeated enough and said convincingly enough it is hard to know for sure without doing a lot of research.

All very topical a;though it seems to get harder and harder to separate the fact from the fiction. This is more eloquently expressed in your 5-7-5 verse and complemented with an eye-catching image. Well done and good luck! Debbie

To lie today seems to be an acceptable avenue in conversation, especially with politicians.
I put the blame on social media and how it's changed so much.
This would've made a good contest entry...
Cheers,
John

Sadly, we seem to lie in a world where lies are considered normal and okay by many. We even vote for politician we know are liars and some even criminals. Thanks for sharing.

Lying doesn't see to bother people that much any more. People are willing to accept being lied to even when they recognize that it isn't the truth. It is sad.

Thank you for sharing this wise contest entry with us. As our media continues to lie to us many people are believing those blatant lies even though the proof is standing at their doors. I guess if one lies enough it becomes the truth. Good luck with the contest.

Better you than I inwriting things like a five-seven-five contest submission. Still, what is writ is skilled though I woould have chosen "recognizing lies" for my last line

Thanks Tom. I did have a reason for wording it like I did. There is internal rhyme in each line. Learn-discern Instill-skill and recognize=lies. Recognizing wouldn't have rhymedf.

A very wise use of those seventeen syllables! That is advice my daughter, especially needs daily. She trusts everyone! I guess I'm in need, too. It's a good thing I allowed God to lead me to my wife.

Thank you Jim, I changed the middle line. Let me know if this better or worse.
Learn to discern truth
And instill the greater skill
To recognize lies

It sounds very intelligent! I like the way it sounds.

That would have been a good entry to the political contest. I like it, it's an important message. A slogan perhaps. Good luck in the competition. 5 Stars

Thank you Mark. Yes, political is definately one thing we need to be able to know for sure what is lies. A good portion of, I tend to think.

How true this is. I feel the same way. Sometimes it is hard to know when someone is lying. They can look at you in your eyes and tell a lie. These words are very wise
Very good job .

Thank you Brenda. Sometimes people seem to believe their own lies and can tell them so convincingly they seem logical.

I find this poem so true within the scope of our world today.
So many half truths and lies are spread around, especially through the media. It really is hard to know what or what not to believe. I wish there were a simple answer. Thank you for sharing your thought provoking poem with us.
