This is so dang different from your other novel. Which is good because there is nothing worse than reading a formula novel. I enjoyed this . Gretchen

Thank you for the kind review. It will still be my traditional romance.

This is beautifully written, and I enjoyed listening to it very much. Your sentence structure your paragraphing, and the whole formatting of it is wonderful. I wish you the very best with all of your writing and may you have a very pleasant day. Patricia .

Good morning, Barbara
For being a teacher, Sami's attitude of mistrust and defiance sets me back a little. She should be aware of the danger she is putting herself and others into as well. Maybe she is so focused on her own plan, she isn't thinking logically. Noah at least is aware he is crossing the line having feelings for Sami, but he's doing his best to stay professional and complete his job. Looks like these two are going to have quite the struggle with their attitudes. Great job! Wish I had a six.

Sami's letting her guilt rule her. She didn't get to the community center in time to save Myra. Thank you for the kind review.

Now don't we all let our emotions get in the way sometimes!

I sure do. LOL

Wanted by the hooligan Chen, Sami may not be safe in Safe House E, Philadelphia, or much of anywhere else.
Can not blame her, but Sami resents the fact her house was broken into and her dog drugged by the agents.
Sami possesses a serious attitude, and violent temper, as displayed by slapping Noah's face.
"He's sort of the clearing house" should be He's sort of the clearinghouse.
Seems Sami not quite buying into Noah's story as her last comment "you can leave" indicates.

Sami had started to trust Noah, now she feels betrayed by him. Plus he had his hands all over her body. Thank you for the kind review. I made the correction.

Hi Barbara,
Another great chapter in this tense story. My only suggestion is to make this part stronger - 'Sami walked to him, slapped his face as hard as she could, and then went back to the bedroom. She slammed the door, before she crawled into bed.'
The sentence made me stumble - perhaps, 'She slammed and then crawled back into bed.'
...just a thought.. I love this story,

I'll recheck that area. Thank you for the kind review.
Comment from Gloria ....
Excellent chapter here. Your setting, characters and plot shine through even though this is the first chapter I have read.
The characterization is believable and your language and literary techniques convey the theme of human trafficking very well.
Sami is surface level unlikeable, naive and defensive which makes sense given her situation.
Very much enjoyed, barbara and I look forward to reading more. :)

Sami obviously still doesn't trust him at all. She sounds a bit immature for 25, especially being naive as to the danger she was putting herself into. Well written chapter. Looking forward to more.

Sami is acting out because of the guilt she feels. She feels she's responsible for Myra being kidnapped. Thank you for the kind review.

Hello Barbara,
this was an exciting chapter. I think Sammi is being naive, and unreasonable, perhaps because she's still fairly young and isn't aware of how much trouble she could have gotten herself in to. Noah is kind of stepping over the line too by getting emotionally involved. It could cause trouble. Guess I'll wait and see what develops. Well done gal.
Have a blessed evening.

Another fine chapter in the DHS Saga. I think Sami will understand things a little better now.
The characters are descriptively good. Enjoyable read!

Well, I really don't like your Sami character. She's rather slow to catch on about how much danger she was in and the danger she put other people in with her stubbornness and self-righteousness. It's ridiculous that she would blame Noah after all that he has been through and the risks he took to keep her safe.
