Very nicely written. I guess it would just about have to be considering the topic. (smiley face here)
I could tell of an 11th grade English teacher who tried to humiliate me in class and then held me after class to apologize. He could have made a shooter out of me. Instead, I quit after 11th and joined the Marines.
Best wishes.

Hi Wayne, thank you for your thoughts on the subject. You know, I hear as many negative stories about teachers as positive, and that's sad. We are put in a position to affect lives, and sometimes grown folks are so selfish, they discourage or anger rather than help.
So, you joined the marines... good for you!!
Take care,
Rhonda

The USMC definitely straightened me out!

I don't remember a single stand-out teacher. But though I was a 'college-prep/honors' student, I was a troubled soul. (We moved a lot - 8 schools in 11 years)
Yay for the Marine Corps! (smiley face here)

I've heard that happens, lol. I'm glad it turned out to be a good experience for you,

What a lovely sharing of memorable and validating teaching experiences, the sort that keep you going when you might otherwise get disillusioned and consider giving up! I think it's like that in so many things in life including FS,- there's always something out there that's positive to balance the negative. A great idea to invite others to share their own personal stories. Just one edit and one suggestion: 8th line down - opinion; para starting "beyond it all..." - It (concerned) a 10th grade. An interesting and inspiring write, Rhonda. Thanks for sharing Debbie

Hi Debbie, thank you for reviewing and giving your input. I would love to hear other's stories. I intend on including more, as well, but really want to hear from others out there.
I'll make the correction, thank you for noting it.
Take care,
Rhonda

This is a very interesting idea, considering there is a large number of teachers on this site, who teach all ages and grades and all sorts of subjects. After I retired from my career job, I taught the babies...preschool, ages 2 to 5, for thirteen years. Most of what they did was either cute or humorous. If I think of something specific, I will include it.

Thank you for starting this book. It's a great idea. I know many on here are teachers or retired teachers. I will do my best to add a story to this book, but which one, I have many. LOL

Hi Barbara,
Thank you so much for reviewing!! You can add multiple chapters if you have multiple stories. I plan to do that, too. There are so many with experiences, I thought it would be fun to collect some stories to pass on.
Take care,
Rhonda

This is a beautiful idea, Rhonda! I'm not a teacher or a student, but I am an interested writer who'd love to read these entries.
You've taken a GT student and pulled him from the wreckage of curricular Boredom. I'm sure to this day; he remembers you and the way you contributed to his positive outlook on school and possibly his everyday life.
Great story! Best, JohnC

Hi, John, thank you for the review and comments. I usually write fantasy, but wanted a bit of a change. A sort of mixture of both my worlds,
Thanks again,
Rhonda

This is a neat introduction to something which should go over well with the many teachers on this site. I'm impressed with how you managed to get through to this student you were actually afraid of. I didn't realize your were a teacher. I only played with the idea of teaching long enough to take education courses and go so far as to do practice teaching. I'm sure I'll add something later as a student when I feel inclined to share an experience. For now I will read what others write.

Hi, Beth,
Thank you for reading and reviewing. I teach high school science, so thought I?d take a page from y?all?s autobiographical works, and inject some thoughts? get ideas from others as well.
Take care,
Rhonda
Comment from Terry Broxson
Rhonda, you deserve a six for creating the book and being a wonderful teacher! Even though you told your teaching stories in sort of a snippet format, each one was interesting. I was never a teacher; I am what I am and what I turned into because of one teacher--Maridell Fryar. Outstanding job. Terry.

Hi Terry, and thanks for the six stars.
I do plan to tell more about these stories, but as this was the prologue, I felt I should be brief. Sort of an introduction.
Thank you again, my friend,
Rhonda
Comment from Sandra Stoner-Mitchell
I'm not a teacher, wasn't clever enough. But, I love that story about the lad who did so well in your class, and then was taken away because his family moved. That must have been the sad part. But you did good, so did he. And that is the important part.
I have negative memories from two school teachers who really had it in for me. One when I was only 5, and the other when I was 10. Those memories never left me, and I'm fast approaching my the last three years of my 70s. I often think of those teachers, they were traumatic in my young life. Good memories and bad never leave you. I did have one lovely teacher, and I never forgot her, either.
This is a great idea, Rhonda. I'll be watching the stories. Warmest hugs, my friend. Sandra xx

I?m not sure clever is a good description of being a teacher. If we were clever enough, we would have probably picked something else, lol.
I?m glad you had at least one good teacher. There are many out there who should do something else, lol.
Hugs,
Rhonda

Virtual six, my talented friend. This made me cry because it's true. No doubt you impacted this young man's life and filled him with a new purpose and a big dose of self esteem. It's impossible to love others unless we love ourselves. Jesus knew that and spoke about it in the scriptures. Love others as we love ourselves.
I hope to post in this wonderful book as soon as I am able. Thank you sharing and beautifully so.
Love and blessing across the bridge.

Thank you for the virtual 6, Sally! I?ll take it, for sure! Thank you for your comments on loving ourselves first. You are so entirely right!
