I enjoyed your essay on aging. I think as long as we are interested in learning something new every day, staying active and still have dreams of things we want to a larger number doesn't really matter. Seventy sounds yourg to me. I have friends in their ninties still enjoying live. It is when you start to see yourself as old that you start to age. I don't every remember being bored or having enough time do the things I want to do.

Belated Happy Birthday, Barbara!!
I had to laugh, you old lady, because I will be eighty in March. I am glad I can still do a lot of the things I like.
You have expressed concern over several critical matters. About digital currency, I view it as a way for the government to further control all the people. We will no longer even be able to slip our grandchildren a dollar without it being recorded someplace by governing authorities. We will not be able to have a garage sale without automatically having sales taxes withdrawn from our accounts...and that goes for what the sellers make, too--which is double taxation on their sold used-goods. Sigh This is not the world I grew up in.
President Nixon had to leave office because he told a lie. Now even ex-Harvard professors continue getting paid $500,000 a year even after extensive plagiarism has been proved. The media daily covers up facts and spins their own stories. And so on and on...
Thankfully, as writers and poets, we are able to get our feelings out. Whether or not they are shared doesn't even matter. We can just be happy knowing we avoided getting ulcers.
Forever blessings, my friend, Lily

Thank you for the understanding. Yes, things are not good. I hope a decent person decided to run for president. It's our only hope.

LOL -- Barbara, if you are old, then I am too because I am seventy-one. You have certainly covered several topics, but I want to dwell on this one for a moment: "Another thought, when the winters get really cold, we don't have enough electricity to warm our houses, what are electric cars going to do to the power grid?"
Have you seen the battery used in an electric car? I was SHOCKED. I'll see if I can find the picture of it that I posted on FB. (We 'old ladies' agree on a lot of things! *smile*)
Well done, my friend, and again, Happy Birthday!

I agree. Please check out what those batteries are made from and how to dispose of them. They are classified as hazardous waste. I had added that and then deleted it. Thank you for understanding.
-
Yep! NOT good news, and I don't know about the US, but here, in Canada, the government is going to make them compulsory!
-
the cars, not the batteries... lol

They're trying, but many are fighting back.

Good!

Congratulations and happy birthday! I think you've earned the right to have a few minor grumbles. :) There are a few little spag issues in places that you might like to edit when you get a chance. I completely agree with you about the difference between ignorance and stupidity - this irks me on a daily basis and I'm only fifty-two! :) Best wishes.

I'm excited to read this. I find if it is not 5 or 0 for the birthday year, I can't remember which I am, but I got an idea for 76...trombones. Next year it will be 77 Sunset Strip. I did not know this: " Let's think for a minute, where do we get electricity. Oh, yes, that's right we get it from coal. Steam coal, also known as thermal coal, is used in power stations to generate electricity. " Happy birthday. I've learned a lot here. Thank you.

Thank you for the understanding. Many people believe electricity is clean energy, nope, it comes from coal.

So you are saying that retirement doesn't come with "I can do everything what I want, and I can sleep late:) myth. Thank you for sharing also these lines it elevated my view to the word:"lacking knowledge, information, or awareness about a particular thing.' Stupid: 'having or showing a great lack of intelligence or common sense.' Brian Herbert put it this way: 'The capacity to learn is a gift; the ability to learn is a skill; the willingness to learn is a choice."

I appreciate the help. I edit the chapters for my novels numerous times. I only read through this three. I have made the corrections.

This is an excellent ramble. Mentioning that age is relative made me remember when I was 16 and my little brother told me I was old because Juliet married Romeo at fourteen. I still wonder how he knew who those characters were at five years old. I know I read to him but I thought it was fairy tales.
Love the comments about electricity and where it comes from. Yes, what will we do when the power grid is overloaded and we can't heat our homes and can't go anywhere?
Thanks for sharing.
Happy birthday!

LOL!
I wish I had a six-star for you. I think the things we process on our birthdays always need to be written out. It seems that you were able to reflect on a lot, but you held back a bit. (I would love to hear more about your grandchildren - but that's only so I can brag about mine next!)
When I turned 65 at the end of October, it was a huge surprise. How on earth did that happen?
Thank you for sharing with us - 70 isn't old at all!!

Thank you for the understanding. I have written, in my portfolio letters to my youngest grandchildren, if you're interesting. I need to add to them again.
