A lovely celebratory post for Thanksgiving (sadly, we don't have this event). I enjoyed hearing about those fun 6 seasons you had when the kids knocked a football around and, of course, accompanied their play with delicious food and drink. To put this into context with a back story about NFL was also very interesting, especially as my knowledge isn't great on the subject. I wondered if it should read: "hosted by a different parent (on) their front lawn..?" All an excellent read, as ever. Thanks John. Happy Thanksgiving! Debbie

Family traditions are nice. Professional traditions are good too, and watching the NFL on Thanksgiving, usually the Bears for the Cowboys has been a staple in America.

This was interesting information on how the NFL got it's start and how some of other would-be leagues didn't make it.The front yard football with the neighborhood kids sounds like a world of fun. Those are memories non of them will ever forget. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Whether or not the food is the traditional American fare for the day or the Italian version, I'm sure it will be delicious.

Our Aussie style footy has evolved in pretty well the same way as yours, although the ratification of the sport took shape in about 1850, and their was a league of teams in about 1860, our game is a cross between rugby and Gaelic football, beautifully written, blessings Roy
