Interesting is not the word I'd use for our times, but I understand you are tying it in with the quote (if not Chinese, do you know where it comes from?)
My mother would say these are "end times" if she were here. She might be correct.
Take care,
Pam

Thank you Pam. Some say the quote curse goes back to Chamberland I guess the English PrimeMinster. I'd heard it before and thought it was an Irish curse. I'm not sure anyone knows. My mom would say it is end times too. If so it will likely keep getting worse.

These were the best of the times the worst of times, and yet if they are not fulfillment of scriptures, can you imagine how grave those days might be. I applaud the photographer of this shot.

Thank you Tom. The scripture make we what we have to look forward to very grim. There are many part of the world where people are already facing loss of everything and death daily. How it get worse for them?

Great poem for the ABC contest.
We certainly are facing a different challenge in our world today. So much tragedy, disasters, hatred, wars,... the list is long. It's almost a scary yime to be alive. I do wonder sometimes why we don't learn from our mistakes....

This is a really troubling time now. As if there wasn't enough going on with Ukraine. And where are our strong leaders or anyone we could rely upon to shed some sanity on all this? Not even agreement about a ceasefire which should be the obvious temporary measure. You have cleverly worked your thoughts into this particular verse form and drawn upon a 'Chinese' curse with a prediction of doom from the past. Well expressed with your fine rhyming pattern, Beth! Were it not for the subject, I'd say I enjoyed it. Take care Debbie

Thank you, Debbie. This wasn't one to be enjoyed. I try for something more positive soon. Thanks so much for the review and comments.

I love the way you worked in the Chinese curse to compare it to our times. For sure, we do live in interesting times, and certainly not in a good way. It's funny I've never heard of it before, so l get to learn something new. I'll bet I don't forget it.
Hugs,
Rhonda

I've heard it before and though it was an Irish curse. If you researsh things you may get the truth. It's a tossup sometimes. I don't think anyone knows for sure how it started. Thank for the review.

Thank you Roy. I know the Bible tells us this will happen and it seems if we aren't in the last days, we are at least awfully close. I appreciate the review.

Thanks for the author's notes! Indeed, I was thinking "These interesting times are a curse" even before you pointed that out! AN excellent entry for the ABC poetry contest. This world is topsy-turvy. I'm afraid to turn on the news each day... Best of luck!

Thank you Karenina. I really appreciate the review. You think of interesting as a good word but not in this case. It is meant to be a curse. The news isn't boring but it certainly not good.

Thank you for the review. It might have been easier if I'd chosen other letters. The U and V are the easiest.

You can say that again. I don't know what happened in such a short time to turn the world upside down like it has. It keeps getting worse, but something's got to turn it around.

I hope hope some turning it back right side up but I'm starting to wonder of it will happen or just keep getting worse. Thanks for a nice review.

It seems all the morals and values we learned as children have gone out the window. I don't understand it. I know God's in charge. I keep reminding myself that. Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us and good luck.
