Thank you for sharing this post and the video with us. Yes, readings are not necessarily difficult, but a frightful experience. I am happy to know you survived. I have completely enjoyed the book.

Terry, I can see where this would be an uncomfortable situation for you. From my limited perspective, you are not one to emphasize your accomplishments, even though you have every reason to.

This is another exceptional and insightful story, shedding even more light on the real-world life of a published author. Thank you for sharing. - Jamison

P.S. The book (which I own) is great and was awarded a six-star review from my 4-year-old granddaughter.

I am very happy for you that you are published, but I am astonished that this did not come out by July. In publishing, it has always been the standard that seasonal works come out six months before the date. This is to allow placement in stores, to give interviews and readings so the stores will be packed before the date, a second printing can be done if necessary.
Good Luck with your book. Karen

I loved this story about your experience writing and promoting your book, Terry, especially your appearance at the library. I think you gave that little girl the perfect answer to her question, which was essentially, "Listen to the story, and then you decide."

Great video too on how the story came into being. You are too modest to provide a link, so I looked it up anyway on Amazon, and there it was! I purchased the paperback version, and I'm looking forward to reading it. - Jim

Ever since I was 7 years old on a nigh when I actually.stayed awake till the early hours of the Christmas morning, trying to ambush Santa when he entered my bedroom, We were still living in Liverpool, England at the time, then, about 1:00am my father entered my bedroom with a sack of presents Christmas was shattered fo me, ever since then I've hated the fat, red suited man, I even told my kids he didn't exist, and that Christmas was a ruse by the then 3rd century emperor Constantine to replace a pagan festival, as he did also with Easter, my kids weren't wounded by that, we covered them with enough love to not even dent their childlike imaginations. I think it's an extremely unhealthy belief, kids still get toys, good or bad anyway, and if poor, probably get nil, no accountability involved I'm afraid. I came to Christ after a wonderful encounter with the Lord, at the tender age of 41, as a drunken, gambling smoker, I stopped drugging immediately. Even fellow Christians think I'm a Grinch, heh heh, but good luck, you'll need it, blessings Roy

Well done. Loved this little story and smiled through the whole lot. Seems as though you know Santa well and you handled that trouble maker Diane like a true professional. All the best with the book. Take care and have a wonderful day.
Cheers

Very good Terry, There is always a little trouble maker in a crowd of children and that is because some smartellic know it all's tell the young ones there is no Santa Claus. The little ones don't want to hear those words. They need the reality of Santa re-confirmed. Good save! Nancy:)

I think you handled it beautifully. When my oldest was about eight he asked me about Santa. I let him pick a name off our church angel tree. We set a budget, bought a pair of pants, two shirts, socks, underwear and then I let him pick out two toys and a book. We wrapped them up, took them to church for the Angel party. I told him to watch as the little boy opened what we gave him. It was all anonymous, no identifying names other than the recipient name. That little boy was over the moon. Even excited about the socks and underwear. I took my son out into the hall and told him. "Do you think Santa always wears a red suit? He shook his head yes. I told him to look down at his own clothes. Santa isn't just a person. Santa is a person who gives to others, sometimes he won't even get a thank you. But to that little boy, Santa is very real. You are Santa.

Your book was wonderful, Terry. As they say, Kids say the darndest things.
Gretchen
