This is a very well written story about the guard dogs at the restaurants in the Sydney Harbour. I enjoyed listening to it very much. I cannot imagine, sitting out and eating food and having a seagull coming down and snatching my food off at the plate. Patricia

Thank you Patricia. All our beach cafés have the same problem - one has to be vigilant.
    Thanks so much for reviewing.

Great images and story to go with them, Wendy. I enjoyed reading this. Your wrote with a conversational style that the reader can relate to. You set the scene very well, and make me want to go there, but it is too far away. I like how you don't give any clues about who or what the patrol is until you get to the word harness, but it still isn't totally clear.

What a great idea to use these dogs and that they have become celebrities and earn a lot of money, too. Thanks for sharing it.

This is very interesting. I've never been outside of The USA, and it's territories, but it sounds like an idea. I'm wondering if the dogs bark at all, or do anything dirty near the dinners. If the dogs ever become a problem, what then? Would a lion be brought in to take care of the dogs? A dragon to get rid of the lion?

Totally kidding, I sort of stole some of that frim one of my favorite comedian's skits. I should have stopped at saying this was interesting, because it was, and it was excellently-written, too!

Best wishes!

Thanks for your fun review. No they don?t bark and are trained to attend to their bodily functions before and after their duty. There is also a nearby park for an emergency and owners are trained to recognise their dog?s need. The same with my therapy dog who visits hospitals an aged care facilities. There are no accidents. Thanks again.

Holy smoke's aid host seagulls they have no fear. No, this cannot be fun for the people who are having their food storm for sure. On the one hand there is a little bit of amusement in that's well because you know, I mean, those seagulls they really got balls. They don't care, they just flit right in there! I'm glad the perfect solution was found. Everyone all around including the seagulls will benefit this is a really good write, I appreciate it so much. I hope you have a really great day. And thank you for this fine submission.

Thank you Lea. A very nice and fun review. Yes, the seagulls are very cheeky. All our beaches have outdoor cafés and one really does have to be vigilant.

Wendy.
You detailed the Sydney Harbor and Sydney Opera House, quickly yet sufficiently to carry the story.

At first I laughed at envisioning the seagull thievery. Then smiled once I read the solution of Seagull Patrol!

Are these various breeds of dogs trained specifically for this task?

Very well done.
Cheers to a secure plate of food...
John

Thanks so much John. Mostly German Shepherds, I believe, and yes, trained for this. They don't hurt the birds, just chase them, and are friendly to diners, good with other dogs, won't ask for food, and trained to not need the bathroom during their service (but there is a nearby park for an emergency, and the trainers are well aware of dogs' signals, same as those of us who own Therapy Dogs have to be. Never any accidents.)

Heh heh, I can understand the seagulls no being, I'm very familiar with the place you're pointing, been there a few times, but sometime ago, the restaurants western there but seagulls are without a conscience, they'll steal the food out your mouth if they could, well done, blessings Roy
