It is good to see members using the forms that have earlier been featured o FS. This is a delightful piece I could almost hear the cicadas and was reminded of the old Paul Robeson song 'Lindy Lou'. It will be on you tube somewhere I am sure.

Thank you. I like this form, and it was fun to do. I'll have to look up that song.

Thank you for sharing your evening concert there! I'm glad you can hear the crickets and cicadas. It's smart of them to have their concert after the birds go to bed or else they'd become a meal. I don't hear crickets in this new area. I'll have to keep an ear out for them...

I miss the little frogs. We went hiking in the evening recently and we heard a really loud bullfrog!

This beautiful poem--the Trijan Refrain, makes it flow so nicely. It just flows off the tongue in my brain. I do not see any need for improvement. Have a blessed day.

Well done, my friend. This is peaceful and soothing g to the mind like a double shot of Captain Morgan's.
(Okay, maybe not)

The sweet spot:

Then darkness set the fireflies free,
their light's an extra boost
to end the day in sweet repose
with scents of clover and sweet rose.

Very good, Master Poet

Amazing attempt at this mega-complex form. Well done! This is a beautiful rendition of a hot summer's day. Makes me long to be somewhere hot. Thank you.

John

Thos summed up summer so beautifully. When my husband and I sit on the porch we hear the crickets, the June bugs (cicadas) and then near summers end we hear Canadian geese. Early fall it's crows. The birds denote spring. I lived this. Amazing how a sound can evoke seasonal stirrings with in one's soul. Great poem. Gretchen

Thank you so much. I love all the sounds of summer. It's the heat I hate. lol. My favorite is the cicadas. Sometimes, they're almost deafening.

Reminds me of the days of childhood when things were not too complicated. Outside the sound of the night and seeing the fireflies do their thing. The calling of the whippoorwill, the cooing of the doves. ALL is gone forever but only in my mind. Well done, Arkie.

I totally agree with you. My trees are full of cicadas, and I love hearing them. Fireflies seldom come out these days, er, nights. I think it's due to pesticides. Sad. I miss them.
