This story put a smile on my face. It is a well written story of success and determination that proves we can accomplish anything we choose, as long as we put in the necessary hard work. I'm glad you met Melissa and was able to tell this inspiring story.

This is a brilliant story of Melissa and her struggle to be accepted as herself and not someone with something. It is so important to be comfortable in your own skin.

That was an incredible story of an incredible woman. I do love to hear these stories of people who won't give in to their 'mere inconveniences' (I love that!) I think I'd be like you, if I had to choose, I'd prefer to be death and still see the glories that are out there, and learn to lip read and talk. Well done, this is a wonderful contest entry, and I wish you the best of luck. :)) Sandra xx

Oh my goodness, what a remarkable young woman who wanted lip read. My Mother worked for a short time in a cotton mill and all the women learned to lip read because they could not be heard above the machines. Those who could lip read were used during the second world war as spies. I was privileged to read about this remarkable and very attractive woman who lead a full life and did not let her deafness define her, much enjoyed, I wish you luck with the contest, this is a great entry, love Dolly x x x

What an interesting story about your Mother and the women who served in the war because they could lip read. That's amazing. Thank you for sharing that story and thanks for your review and good luck wish.

Your story is touching. I use two hearing aids with blue tooth. I receive a new pair from the VA each year if needed. I was in the artillery. much noise. Losing hearing is not a good thing. This person was fortunate to have love as support. I know what that driver said to you that day. The same he says to all who cut him off. LOL.

You're absolutely right. I would have to put a warning on this writing if I disclosed what the other driver said. Thanks for your review. I appreciate it.

Melissa's story is an amazing one. I had an aunt who spent her life teaching the deaf to read and talk. She said the main thing she learned was patience. Your story is well-written. Best of luck in the contest.

So lovely. Captivating biography of a role model. Story read smoothly, had anecdotes, and was a pleasant passing of time. Especially liked the idea that "handicap" has burdens attached to it. Thank you, and good luck.

Absolutely agree. A walk in the fields at sunset, or on the beach at high tide. Would we rather see it or hear it? No contest. This is a heartwarming piece and I hope it does well in the competition.
