Hi Debi,
This poem goes through her whole life easily. It shows she is multi-talented and a good mother. Wow, she sings, acts and writes.
Have a great weekend.
Keep writing and stay healthy.

I hear you on writing directly to Advanced Editor... I suppose some have it down, but every single time I think I'll give it a go, I lose my work. Period.
(So yes, I always write in WORD and cut and paste it --which brings me those little "evil eddy gremlins" that take the place of punctuation I've typed.
Okay! Mini-rant over! Don't give away your trade secrets...but I'm so curious! Do you have a mini-interview session with each member whose birthday you celebrate? It's amazing how much I learn from every one of your celebratory poems!
Spitfire (Shari) is a wonderful woman. Her writing is terrific and her kind heart shows in every review she gives. I wish her well as she celebrates her fortieth birthday...
(WHAT?-- It's not her fortieth?) LOL -- I just keep having forty-year-old birthdays every year...
Young at heart! THAT'S the ticket!
Bravo to you for your heart and your delicious trademark Merry~go~Rhyme!
(Guess I don't have to ask how those eyes are doing...you're a regular poetic visionary! -- heh, heh--see what I did there?)

Hey my dear Special K. I am so glad I am not the only one crazy enough to try to write on here. This is the only time and I was doing it from my bed and I kept dozing off. So I maybe bumped something. Anyway, I do mine from notes or word too, but I never have any problems with the evil eddies. But that might be because I have Smart Punctuation turned off and that is supposed to keep those buggers away. Anyway, in answer to your other question. Yes, I have a questionnaire that I paste on their private messages. It gives them a little guide to give me some info.
So thanks sweetie for the very kind review and your comments. It is such a good feeling to put a smile on the face of so many that have been loyal reviewers and therefore friends. And those are the ones that I try to do.
And you my sweets will be one of mine again on December 5 or is it the 4th?
You are my so special friend and partner in crime. Maybe your next one will be a humdinger! Love you sweet friend. I am so thankful for your friendship.
-
It's December 4th... But it will be the big "70" so (yikes) no celebrating allowed! Great idea to send a questionnaire! Every on of your celebratory poems is so personalized it's super special!

Hello again Debi. I know I'm going to enjoy reviewing whatever you write, so I'm putting off my next cup of tea until I finish.
I've reviewed several of spitfire's pieces and really enjoyed them - so here is the next birthday tribute - quite a long one.
The visual is lovely and fits her onsite photograph - and the colors you have chosen for background and font are just perfect.
I'm going to be blunt and tell you what I would do if I were revising it. Then I will hide behind the sofa in the hope I haven't lost a good friend!
LINE 2: that she's someone we admire 'all' ruptures the flow
LINES 7/8 taught English twenty-five years/then decided to retire
LINE 10 needs one extra syllable, but I can't think of a fix right now!
LINES 13/14 are I think in American idiomatic English, so I won't suggest anything there
LINES 17/18 are a bit lumpy - so you need a different place for the stresses: They both have glittering careers/DOing what MAKES them so GOOD - so you have a bit of rapping to do there, Debi. (anapaestic!)
Lines up to 21, really great
LINE 21 the phrase 'would pass away' could be improved, but I think it is another American usage, so no change.
The triplet at the end is great and the overall effect is a lovely tribute to your friend.
Now where is that sofa?

Hi Paul, I appreciate so much what you are saying and maybe should have done this, but was too dang tired...lol... This birthday poem in particular was so terribly difficult. I know it looks like a simpleton did it, but my notes were wiped out and by the information that is given sometimes, the facts have to be more important than the meter. So I was going to make note of that, because these recipients care more about their info than that. The way it is, I had to cut so much out because it just didn't make sense when trying to stay with meter, rhyme and the facts that they want in their poem.
Did you happen to notice that all of the text in red was all rhymed in the word 'fire'?
That is part of the MgR and it doesn't have to make sense to anyone else, but it is in the fun factor. I will get a copy of the rules and it may help make some sense to you.
And believe me, I did try over and over to the point it just didn't make sense. So stress is left to the wayside on these Merry go rhymes. That is written in the rules, in fact I usually post the rules and didn't on this but they say that the facts and rhymes have to be first and meter doesn't count in these.
But with that being said, I sometimes work on a line for an hour trying to get it to work, but if it disrupts the notes that the birthday person gives me, then I ruined the reason I am doing it. Does that make any sense to you? Like I said, I absolutely understand and appreciate your help and when I rest my eyes just a bit, I will look at your suggestions and see if they can work.
But I agree with you as I am the first to say that the whole thing is bumpy and is why I never went to bed yet.
And dear friend, get out behind that couch right now!! Hahaha!
I do need to tell you the weirdest thing that happened, but I think the reason it became such a problem was because her interests were ghosts, spirits, astrology etc.... and of course I don't believe in therm and I tried to put it in but it just got wiped out each time, but I believe because my writing is led by God most of the time, I wasn't allowed to write it. Twice when I reluctantly did it, they disappeared somehow. Anyway, I do thank you and sorry for being so long winded, but never ever stop giving me feedback. Or you might have to find that couch again. LOL...
Thought you might like to see this.
Merry go~Rhyme
Rules:
1~must rhyme
2~must be fun
3~normal line stanzas
with a fun line or 2 between each stanza
(for the up and down carousel effect)
Usually done in just one rhyming word
4~ does not have to follow a meter
5~ what matters most after rhyming is
Information to get out there in small patches.
-
Oh Debi, I really sympathize - but I'm with you on the supernatural stuff: I certainly believe in angels and demons - but anything bogus (including Halowe'en) doesn't get through my door. Sorry to be such a muttonhead - I didn't spot the red writing rhymed with 'fire'. I think your friend gave you a poisoned chalice with all those rules. It would have taken me a year to make the first draft! PS Charlie says, 'Miaow!' in sympathy.
-
Thanks for understanding but they are the rules of the merry go rhymes and I made them when I made the type of poem long ago, so that information to honor someone with love and fun had to come first..... however she did give me what I wanted, but had a hard time putting it in words this time. That usually isn't a problem. But she is a lovely woman and like I said, I always treasure your feedback. Even on these when I am using the MgR, I try my best w meter, but it just isn't always possible. Take care dear friend and you can come get me tomorrow as I have a story and a poem to write. Trying to give my ranking a little extra boost as I don't know if I will be able to write soon after another eye surgery on this coming Wed.
-
Oh Paul, I forgot to say that if you like cats, check out the silly ones with this poem underneath the notes
-
I'll try to find it.
Love from Paul and Charlie
-
Prayers for your eye surgery. I hope that is completely successful. Right now on the BBC, I am watching a young man called Jacob Collier headlining at Glastonbury. He is the most original musical genius I have seen - and plays dozens of instruments. His mum was a professor of violin and the whole family attended the last church where I assisted, in Finchley Central, North London. A few years before I joined, Cliff Richard was a Youth leader there. We both sang at the Billy Graham Crusades (but he was a bit more famous than me!)
Catch up with you tomorrow.
Paul

No more sixes left. Sigh. But I love what you did from memory and glad you mentioned my love of singing and acting and my husband now passed. Funny you should mention a flight to California. I may do that sometime soon.

Hey sweetie, I finally got to you! Just wanted you to know that I have a habit of changing poems for a day or so until I get them right, we have had a lot of lovely reviews..' so I hope you have been reading them..
Also Hon, did you realize that the red text was for all the lines that's rhymed with spitfire.. You were and are, so loved and an awesome spitfire! Thanks Sheri! Hope you had a great birthday
'
-
I went back to the poem and now see the link between red text and fire. I also noted the darling video. Did I mention my love for cats--oh, I told you about Rosie, I think. I read all the reviews and that bolstered my ego. LOL. I had a wonderful birthday. My son and his family took me to lunch. Then my best friend Jonathan took me to one of his aunt's house where some of his family greeted me with hugs. And talk about a small world. His aunt and I started talking and discovered we both gradated from the same college in Albany, NY!
-
Oh Shari, I am so happy you had a great birthday. And I was happy to be a part of it in a small way. I didn't know what a spitfire was until I started researching it and found that they initially were British airplane fighters. The picture with the red hair that I used for your picture was an animated Spitfire flyer. Dang, I should have added that to your notes. Maybe I still will. Have you showed the poem to your kids? I will do that right now.
-
Sure I shared the poem with my son and daughter, both of whom thought it was great. Thank you again, sweet Debi.
-
I forgot to add Spitfire was my nickname in fourth grade because I always said what I thought. Not always a good thing. Smile.

I love your style of expression. The natural beat and meter compliment the rhyme to underscore a very light but personal subject. The artwork is a blast to view and reminds me of 'Speed Racer' art from the sixties.
Very nicely done.

I think that it is about time we declare you the official birthday writer. Maybe you should turn professional birthday writer. I know you would not want to abandon your other types of writing, so I will forget about my earlier suggestion. It was just a thought. Another slam dunk by someone who has become a master. SHAQ ain't got nothin on you baby sis.

I just love you for being the sweetest big brother ever! My life has seen the raising of the kids while I did the work thing for too many years. Not am thankful that God allows me to try to be a blessing in return to those who blessed me with their review while I wasn't able to review much back. The people I was able to be blessed to call my great friend.. Don't you just love how God works? And I got an Awesome big brother at the same time!
Thank you for being that guy and your sweet comments! 😘🤗
......,and the shiny Six stars too!!!

The pleasure was mine. Not to deny you your measure of pleasure. Nevertheless, the pleasure was mostly mine.

This was another great birthday poem. I feel like I learn about writers I've yet to read. I will check out her profile. I have fanned about five people because of your poetry. You're quite the marketing genius. This was a fun poem and read very smoothly. Gretchen
