A lovely letter. I, too, grew up in the finest of days and saw many of the growth spurts technology, especially television, has had over the years. I remember typing too fast and the keys getting clustered, and when the tv announcer would cheerfully say "Elizabeth Montgomery in... Bewitched!" at the start of the show.

This a great letter to give your granddaughters a view of the past, for better or worse. In today's tech world and convenient living, how things were when we were growing up is forgotten as more years pass.
I enjoyed the trip down memory lane. We had the only TV in our housing project yard, and I was told my mother would line up chairs for the kids in the yard to watch Howdy Doody in our apartment every Saturday morning.
Best wishes,
Mary

Yes changes do happen and how! I remember we used to buy milk from small time dairy farmers with one cow or two. Getting extra milk was never easy .Now you can buy any amount of milk 24/7!
True eating out or ordering in was unheard of...

Oh my God, I have forgotten the good old days. In my poor neighborhood, one family had a black and white TV, all the children went there and watched TV. But they had to pay one cent..,

It is s nice thing to share these old day living with your grand children.

We were so excited to get the sheet of plastic to make the sky appear blue and the grass green. It didn't always coincide with the picture, but presented to be very innovative...bwaaa This was fun.

This is a very valuable concept for a book, as I think communication between grandparents and grandchildren is not easy. How can they understand coin-operated telephone boxes? (I have decided to buy one with the money from my parents and plant it in the garden as a play house for them, the English red ones were so cute). I don't understand your note about the gift from your son and daughter-in-law, I think this needs further clarification. kay
I'll list a few > I'll list a few of them

Hi Barbara,

I enjoyed the glance backward to the good old days. How fun.
I remember our first color TV as well. I remember they said we couldn't start or stop our vacuum cleaner in front of it. I don't know why, but I was so careful not to do it.

Great idea of leaving your legacy.

I understand the idea of being more a re-writer than a writer, lol.

Good luck with your project,
Hugs,
Rhonda

This was great. I did enjoy reading about the good old days. I remember them vividly. Those letters are very cool. So much is lost about our parents and grandparents when we don't take the time to ask questions. I liked your letter. Gretchen

You are sharing a lot of memories of your childhood for your grandchildren to read. When I first looked at your picture, I didn't realize it was a family around a TV, but rather a radio. TV was not even thought of when I was a child, but we did gather around and listen to some great stories on the radio.

Great concept. For me, I would like to read how my grandparents actually felt about things - hard work many chores, politics, even radio shows.
What I find when I do more than just a little editing is that the editing needs edited. That is probably my singular source of FanStory corrections.
Best wishes.
