Hi Debi, you had quite a storm. Thankfully, you and your family are safe and the house incurred no damage. Weather patterns are changing and not for the best.

Your poem reads and flows well and your message is clear.
Of special note:

The clouds were black and blue like they'd been in a bitter fight
The field looked like a gold mine that was sprinkled with sunlight

(Good imagery and descriptive writing.)

Years ago we lived in central IL, and could see storms miles down the road. One by one the telephone poles would disappear as the storm approached. When it got to the last mile, we'd go inside. It's good you have a marker to see the weather changing. Have a blessed rest of the week.

I loved your picture. You described the calm before the
storm perfectly before it hits with a vengeance. I liked
the color scheme, the personification of the elements--
the line about the clouds in a bitter fight was original
and a great way to state that sight. Your rhymes worked
well, the flow was smooth, and the description of the storm
was awesome. I felt as if I was there with you as this event
occurred.

Hahaha Lorraine, it is almost that bad, y'know? That is why every once in a while I do a different format and try one prose every week. Other wise I fear I will become one big greeting card. It is my style, but it doesn't always come easy.... thank you sweet friend for your kind comments for my poem.

Wow! This is a such a fabulous picture and perfect for the contest! I never heard of a "thunder snow" before and I'm so glad you go this pic and wrote to share about it. I am glad you were safe and the birds knew to hide!
We don't get a lot of snow here but then we don't really get warm temps until July and generally stays around 70 degrees. Where we'll move to will get hotter.

We did have thunder-snow that morning when it was showing. But since the ground had so many temps as well as the atmosphere, it wreaked havoc causing some pretty bad weather. At first I thought it might be the end of the world and was waiting for Jesus to appear. Lol...
Seriously, that wouldn't have been so bad, but we always fear the unknown.

Thanks for the kind comments for poem. As far as my explaining thundershow Glen said I kind of screwed that up, because thundershow is what happened that morning and, the different ground temps mixing w air temps them later, well you get my point ! ' Thanks again

Hey there Jen! I finally put this in my notes because like me, so many are not familiar with the thunder-snow. Anyway it was wicked but so cool..
I had my husband explain this to me so I hope I get it right in the translation. This was right next to our house and this one was far enough away but coming closer. We are both intrigued by storms but have great respect and caution for them as well. It was a thunder-snow since we had snow in the morning and then it got hot, so that is why it looked so wicked. So yes, it was all real. I have other pictures in my portfolio that have the same fields and huge power lines in the background that will show that it is a real picture. Because there was so much snow this winter, it was piled up high everywhere, but melted first where it wasn't piled. Therefore the temp of the ground was sporadic and the air temp went from cold to hot so fast that this was the result. Either of us have ever seen this kind of storm so early in the season and never to such a degree of strange characteristics.
