Well written.
You are right to be outraged.
The government is right to charge the tasering officer.
Unfortunately, the excessive use of force issue is manifoldly worse in the States.
Best wishes.

Thank you for your understanding review. Where has common sense gone?

Comment from Pam Lonsdale
This story falls into the "WTF!" category. Why in the world were police called? How did she get ahold of a serrated steak knife to begin with? At 4:30 a.m. she has access to a steak knife? Was her dinner tray left in her room overnight? Why would staff allow anyone in a home with dementia patients to have a steak knife? Why wouldn't a police officer just distract her while someone took the knife out of her hand - how much resistance could she have offered?
You tell the story in a smooth, concerned way. Thank you for sharing.

All good questions. I don?t know all the answers. But she picked up the knife from the kitchen. Apparently a staff member called police because she didn?t know what to do. Maybe she was the only one on overnight shift. Why couldn?t one of them distract her and one approach from behind and simply reach out and grab it. She would never have been able to offer any resistance. Such a sad and unnecessary situation.
Thank you for reviewing. I hope it makes all of us think how we can act with wisdom, respect and gentleness in such a situation. I don?t see how anyone could have felt threatened by her, they only needed to keep out of the way of the knife. Thank you for reviewing.

This certainly seems like a massive over reaction on the part of the police bbut we won't know for certain until after trial whether it was the training or the officer that was inadequate.

Exactly. Can?t judge him as guilty yet. Innocence is to be assumed until he gets a fair trial. Thank you for reviewing. Always appreciated.
