-Very nice artwork and presentation.
-Your notes are appreciated.
-I think the message you share
and honoring out fallen heroes is
much more important than meter,
and I don't see a real problem with it, either.
-The line about the "helmet, boots, and an upside-down rifle
is a poignant one. These men and women gave
the ultimate sacrifice, and it is important
to remember them and value what they did because
"They're the reason we are all free."
-A very good entry; good luck, and thank you for caring.

Thank you for sharing this poem with us and for honoring our service men and women with your writing. A good reminder that freedom isn't free so we never forget those who paid the price, for us and our country.

Doesn't matter that the meters suck. I don't worry about this - like you have done, write from the heart. This year in Australia, we had the biggest turnout ever to remember the fallen. K XX

This should be read aloud at a Memorial Day ceremony. I didn't know about Battlefield Crosses. An artistic tribute to those who fought for the freedom we have today.

Yes, let's remember the brave fallen this Memorial Day. I like that you are writing from the heart. You correctly identified the issue with meter. Rhyming, for the most part, was solid. With a little more love and attention, I think you could make this poem shine. Good luck in the contest.

What a great entry for the contest. It is written from the perspective of one who has been there, but by the grace of God made it back home, when others did not. A great tribute to those who fought for freedom.

Hi,
This is a well rhymed poem in honor of those who died for our freedom.
We should always remember to that them for their sacrifice for us. I like how you incorporate the picture into your poem. Or, was this poem ekphrastic?
I think there should be a comma after feeling in the first line.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Good luck in the contetst.
Enjoy your day.

I doubt somehow that the cause of war is always freedom, sometimes we invade countries because we don't like their moral values, invasion is still invasion, (we wouldn't invade Russia or China would we?) to interfere with their internal politics, which rarely works, I site Vietnam and Afghanistan. It's like us being invaded for the same reason. But that's not the fault of soldiers, and they should be honoured, beautifully written, blessings Roy
