Original, and very creative. Beautifully expressed in excellent poetry, but also a differnt and meaningful take on the theme. If I still had a six, it would be yours. Berst wishes for your entry.

You have my vote. A beautiful poem, but yours was the most creative in terms of theme and expression. It stood out. Well done.

Well written, well said. I don't know the birds you have mentioned, except the owl. That doesn't matter for your meaning is well defined. Birds and animals bring peace to our lives and bird song is pure and sweet. We have our own orchestra in the garden.

This poem sounds like it was written by an avid birdwatcher, in that bird calls are more important than other kinds of music. I liked these lines: We'd laugh and sing to hear a Jay
So quick to scold along our way,
And we would answer old Barred Owl's
"Who cooks for you?" with jaunty howls

Another part I like is:
on those days when time was free,
We'd call to lively Chickadees
Very nice entry for this contest, I would say.

You took a very different tack of how you entered this contest. I like you were able to do it with poetry which rhymed and made sense. Very nice job. Good luck in the contest.

Beautiful!
Maybe I like it so well because of the bird songs. I love them as well.
You did a wonderful job telling their voices.
Thank you for this. It is a blessing to my heart!
Great job.

What a beautiful and original approach to this contest! And your presentation is as pleasing as the lovely melodies we find in nature~~
no amps or mics are needed. Just a bit of attention to the hum of the breeze and the trills and chirps of God's creatures! This is not to say that Elvis didn't make me smile, or that I didn't sit mesmerized by Simon and Garfunkel's "Kathy's Song." Ah, but haven't you brought it down to the very basics and reminded us? Sweet! What a fine entry!

Reminds me a bit of Ms. Dickinson.

(smiling, always, at her love of nature!)

?Hope? is the thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops - at all -

This is lovely, and although I too joined this contest, this intrigues me. It is so much the same as I viewed nature as a child. My father had many bird houses out at our country home, and I loved to sit outside with them, where I prayed the most. After it is where I still do feel closest to God. So even now it is a about 30 degrees out in MN where I am from, I get dressed up warm and have my husband take me out to sit and watch and listen to the music of the birds. (and of course pray)
Lovely poem mystery writer. You have my vote! Thanks for the nice trip down memory lane!

Wow! So beautifully said and I recognize the "Who cooks for you?" reference and what a wonderful thing that all the sounds of nature brings memories of your wise and loving father. Hope this does well in the contest!!

What a lovely poem to read, and your rhyming was excellent. I enjoyed reading how the music affected you through the years. The picture and color you used set the poem off beautifully. You did a great job. Shirley
