What an adorable photo! Did this inspire your poem or were you blessed to find such a perfect image for your words?
Children... Such precious blossoms of hope! I'm saddened that some would stoop to crushing them as if they were flowers to be trampled on in a garden...
You've nicely expressed that BOTH are blessings from God... Flowers are wonderful...but seasonal...
Our children, our grandchildren--these are life's truest treasures!

Hi babe, I might do something with that awesome line if you don't mind. Will you look at ithe poem one more time as I last edited about 30 seconds ago.
And see where I could add that in.
-
Far be it for me to try to tell you where a line ought to go, Debi! You've done great. Anything I expressed, remember, is a direct reflection of the impact of your poem! It's great...just as it is!

Would you look again and see if it's suggestive enough against abortion?
-
"But our child will always be our child until the time we go
While some were never given, the chance to further grow"
-----
This works very well. I was thinking, in my comments, about all of the child abuse that occurs...but certainly
this encompasses all of that and more!
(Good job Debi!)
-
Yeah murder by abuse, later suicide or abortion.
-
Great, then I will keep it. Thanks for your kind input sweet friend!
-
Anytime! Best of luck!

Excellent poem to express gratitude for children. I couldn't agree more, my children are my treasure and the best part of my life.
Well done!

A very nice poem on the joy that a child brings into a family. The only drawback on having children is the worry that we parents have right up into their adulthood.

What a lovely poem about the gift of life, so precious is a child. You poem has good rhyme and flow, but the very last line seems out of place. I think you could successfully end this verse with the line above (just my thought).
SO MUCH better. Change really lifted this to a six star rating. Alas, I have none left.

Comment from Terry Broxson
Your beautifully written poem clearly comes from the perspective of a loved daughter and a mother and grandmother who loved her children and now sees the love passed to the next generation. Excellent work. Terry.

'Thanks Terry! You are so perceptive to pick that out in this poem. Not everyone caught that as part of the meaning. Thank you for that and your other kind words, my very dear friend!

This poem expresses the idea that a child is a precious gift, and that love and nurturing are the most important things needed to help them grow and thrive. The comparison between a child and a flower is a unique and creative one, highlighting the similarities and differences between the two. The message about the importance of faith in every stage of life is also a positive and uplifting one. Overall, the poem is well-written and touches on important themes in a simple, yet powerful way.

-Lovely image and nice presentation, Debi.
-You wrote a good poem with effective imagery and rhyme.
-I like the comparison between the flower and the child.
-Both add beautiful things to our lives, but the child is
"more precious than anything on Earth."
-A thoughtful poem with many good examples
of what the child and the flower add to our lives.

A lovely poem, Debi. Very creative to compare the cycle of a child to that of a flower and to show the beauty in both.
-Beautiful contrasts, images and similes.
-Readers get the sense that each child is unique, responding to care and nurturing as do flowers as well.
-Positive messaging in this well thought out, meaningful poem.
-So sorry, but the idea of -flowers are just things- could appear as somewhat contrary to the message conveyed. Flowers have lasting impact, and are an important life source of grains, nuts, berries, essential oils, and therapies, providing too nutrients for various organisms.
All in all, joyful poem to read and savour, with wonderful parallels and beautiful connections made between children and flowers. Once again, a poem providing loving, faithful and kind insight, like warming sunshine. This is now one of my favourites of your poems.

Hi Marien, thank you for such a great review on this. And just want to explain that one part. I was so worried someone would think that my comparison was putting the importance of a flower up in the same category as a child, which in my eyes don't come close. So that is why the reference to them being, "just thing". Nothing is more important than human life. Y'know?
But I hear you and I wasn't thinking about anything as just a plain to look at flower, and change that part to add more importance to it. Thank you for the great idea and for all the lovely vomments, my dear friend! Debi
-
You are very welcome, Debi. I know exactly what you mean. I always have to remind myself to use those good ole similes, for sensitivities?.You have done a fabulous job doing that here. Nothing replaces my memory of my three year old picking first flowers, saving it all day and presenting me with the most beautifully, wilted bouquet along with a huge smile.Your poem reminds me of the love in the hearts of children and that precious moment. Thank you, my friend, for your lovely poem that brings to me my sweet memory. Blessings to you always, and your golden pen.🌸🌸
-
Awe Marien, gosh what a beautiful picture you paint of that memory. I would love to see you write about that. And if you do please let me know
-
🌸🌸
-
Please read the poem again, as I changed it to show the importance of the flower for food as well as it's beauty
-
Okay, Deb. My pleasure.
Please check your mail😃

A charming and enchanting work both in words and presentation.
This is a brilliant comparison of children and flowers.
A child will wilt unless nurtured and loved:
"Both depend greatly on lots of loving care."
So true and beautifully stated.
Best wishes,
Mary
