I cried while reading your poem as well but for different reasons. I grew up without a father and being daddy's cherished little girl was only a dream. Eventually, I learned that my Heavenly Father was always there for me and I learned that that was more than enough.
Well done.
Blessings

The father-daughter bond is always so emotional, isn't it? Whether it was a great relationship or a complicated one, it seems to evoke such deep-rooted feelings.
This was a fascinating insight into your father, and I knew you'd cried writing it well before I read the Author's Notes. But that's why it was so well-done. You cannot keep your emotions in a box and be an effective writer.
Reall well done Belinda.

Thank you so much! I?ve struggled with that a lot for sure. Being authentic and vulnerable is the aim in my work in the season of my life. Thank you so much.

Dad's are a necessary driving force in the family.
He's not only a breadwinner but he's also the protector of the family structure.
And, it's his job to make sure the children are getting the proper education.
And it's his wife's job to help blend all his tools together.
Making sure the family is run properly.
Thanks for sharing.

You have a vivid use of powerful words that impact the reader, emotions come through clearly. It appears that you and your Dad eventually got along. I think many can relate to your words. I like the line "To see your hidden treasure", it shows how an individual can change.

Thank you for sharing this emotional poem with the reader and drawing us into your inner core of the ups and downs of a child... wondering, drawing mistaken conclusions, yet searching. Well done.
Hugs, Carol

I have this a five star because it is a very moving poem. I do have a suggestion, just because it did confuse me and took away from the poignancy of this poem just a little. Watch the pov perspective. Sometimes you used I and sometimes it was a third person pov. Otherwise, this was a very good poem.

Very touching and comforting at the same time, to know that there is a Counselor who guides us at all times, we just have to listen to our hearts.
Great job.

Some things hit home. This writing moistened my eyes and gave me a moment to reflect on what kind of father I have been to my children. Never perfect but always with love in my heart. Thank you for sharing.

Heartfelt. Raw. Without providing background and details, you still manage to convey what is most important to poetry - emotion. The rhyming was solid. The meter was a bit ragged but that almost works to this poem's advantage. A meter that is too perfect sometimes can provide too smooth of a ride and the emotion is glossed over. A little bit of raggedness feels like a the poem is weeping, spitting out the lines between sobs. Well done.
