Well, this is one of those times where modern innovations in science has solved a problem for a human condition. Google maps and GPS are a godsend for the directionally challenged.

(Who knew "Take the next left" did not include the Dunkin Donut drivethru?)
Your tidbit about the compass had me laughing outloud!
Incidentally I'm the same way on foot. Every time Ingo to the doctor I get turned around and "lose" the hallway back to the receptionist!

Thank you for the support and help. I've made the changes. I won't mention how many times I've been lost in parking lots searching for my car. I quit going to one shopping center because of it. For real!

This is a great entry for the contest. I enjoyed reading all your stories about getting lost. Since I don't own a smart phone, I usually print off a Google map from the internet when I have to go anywhere I don't know the way.

I'm terrible with directions. I start daydreaming and miss exits. I know north, east, south and west I just don't pay attention. I have what my inner doctor calls travel anxiety. But I do have to agree with you. Google maps are the best.

This is good story and I know the feeling because there are certainly places that I consistently get lost, and sometime I can actually see where I need to be, but still can't figure out how to get there. My daughter moved to a new part of town and although I've been there at least ten times the last two blocks have confused me every time. Even with a GPS telling me where to turn I'm still warning around in circles at least twenty minutes searching for the right street. I've decided she moved into something similar to the Bermuda Triangle and the house keeps moving.

I love this story because I can relate to it. I have no sense of direction. My husband has bought me many compasses. He glued one in a car I had. In his hast he clued it up-side-down. Next was a GPS. That didn't work because I couldn't gage 75 feet, or three quarters of a mile, etc. I agree with you. Google Maps is the best. My daughter showed me how to use it.
This post is perfect for the contest. The hard knock is being lost. The lesson learned is, you found a tool that works for you. Best wishes in the contest.

What a great read this was. You are ten years together ahead of us. I can imagine getting lost in one of those European Roundabouts. I have never been overseas, apart from Many and Tasmania hehe.
