Bessie is going to enjoy being invisible, it's perfect for what she has in mind. I've just started writing it. We'll learn more about Meg's father's estate. Thank you so much for another lovely review, my friend, I really appreciate it. I'm getting better, but it's so slow! Love and hug, Sandra xx

Hi Sandra, I was surprised to see this week's chapter. I had a mild case of Covid, and I had little concentration for writing, or reading. I'm glad to hear you are a little better. I think about you and how you are doing because I have another friend who also is very sick with covid, and is having a slow recovery from it. I pray that you both get better soon.
This week you packed a lot into the chapter, and I like how quickly things are moving. Gwendolyn and Jenkins are quite the team. I'm thinking it was Jenkins' idea to murder her mean father, and he probably deserved it, but I think that Jenkins has more than fatherly feelings for her. It's your story, so you would know, but I get that feeling. I still haven't decided who killed Meg, but I think it's someone not as obvious, perhaps Miles' mother? And now I want a coconut biscuit!
I hope you continue to recuperate. I hope your husband has remained healthy. Hugs and good wishes! Sally

I was surprised to get this chapter done, Sally, it took me days of writing a bit, then leaving it and coming back, but I did it! We are slowly getting better, Graham only had a mild dose, but he'd had his second booster, I get mine next month. Are you fully recovered now? I hope so.
I'm so very pleased you are still enjoying this story, Sally, that really encouraging. I need that at the moment. It's good that you still haven't worked out who killed Med. I like that, lol. Jenkins does appear to really love Gwendolyn, doesn't he? Thank you big time for the golden star, dear friend. I really appreciate this. Love and lots of hugs. Sandra xxx

Wonderful episode! I'm itching to see what stunt Bessie is going to pull to freak them out. She did a great job scaring the stuffing out of the lawyer and then Lord Brandon in a prior chapter. You are a master of suspense!

Thank you so much, Liz. Bessie will really enjoy herself, and I'll have fun writing it. And, what a lovely compliment, me being a master of suspence! I'll have to tell my family that, they might decide to read one of my books. :) Thanks, dear friend. Love and hugs, Sandra xx

Wow, what a nail-biter of a chapter. What I like about your characters, Sandra, is the inner strength of all of them, even the antagonists. I've noticed that so many young writers here (or inexperienced, I should say), have us watch their villains collapse and even crumble after the first battle with the protagonist. What makes your novels a cut or twelve above the rest is the ongoing struggle between good and evil. And the Antagonist(s) are always fit for the fray ... even apparently stronger than the protagonist.
saw him stand on the package [This is, I'm sure, not wrong, but I still must tell you that any American ears that read (listen to) the sentence will stumble over this ... as they would expect Miles to stumble over the package. A package to the American reader has more height and volume, I suspect, than the same package would to a Brit. We would use "envelope" or, "letter" ... which certainly doesn't make it right but should give you as a writer pause.]
And that's it. A marvelous chapter, Sandra.
ON the personal side, I hope you're feeling well. I've been given the antiviral medication, five twice-daily doses, that is supposed to shorten the symptoms. I'm on day three and already feel better (or the placebo effect works.

Thank you so much, Jay! What a lovely review. Also, thank you for that tip. I thought about what you said about the size a package would be and that Miles would stumble. But the package really is an envelope, and that won't trip anyone up, so this is how it reads now...
Bessie stood back to observe Miles as he stepped outside, and held her breath when she saw him stand on the thick envelope she?d placed right in front of the door....
I'm so pleased you pointed it out because I need to get it right. You're a love. And I really thank you!
I'm slowly getting better, just trying get my oxygen levels up a bit more. It's now 93 so three more notches and the doctors will be pleased with me. I'm so pleased you are getting better, I wasn't given that antiviral medication. I have to go to the hospital on Thursday, so I'll ask about it. But so pleased for you. xxx

That medication is called Paxlovid. I understand it has to be taken within the first five days of onset to be effective.
Your revised sentence clears up the problem I had in reading it.

I think Bessie is enjoying getting to play ghost. This is getting more interesting with every chapter. I can't wait to see what they plan to do and also what Miles will do when he confronts the lawyer. I do hope you are feeling better. I've been concerned about you.

Thank you so much, Beth, for another lovely review and the golden star. I'm so pleased you are still enjoying my story. I'm slowly getting better, I just need to build my strength and my oxygen levels up a bit more and stop feeling so tired. Thank you for caring, my friend. Love and hugs. Sandra xxx

The letters get delivered, and Miles is enraged by his father's treachery. It's clear the Meg's father was robbed and did not gamble away his money has had been the story. Miles is off to have it out with his father but decides to pay a visit to the lawyer first. Margot is brave to confront Gwendolyn, as she's a proven murderer. I think I'll enjoy the part Bessie has to play during the visit. Great and intriguing chapter. judi

Thank you so much, Judi, for another lovely review and the biggest hug for the sixth star! There is a lot coming up, and Miles won't hold back. He's been lied to by his parents for too long now. And now he knows they had something to do with Meg's father's suicide, he won't be prepared to listen to their lies. But first, Bessie will be having some fun! Thank you, my dear friend. Love and hugs Sandra xx

You're very welcome. Wouldn't it be great if we could go back and correct those wrongs? I'll look forward to how things turn out and to see what Bessie will do to cause another stir. judi

Methinks that Margot and Bessie are going to get immense satisfaction out of what they've got planned for Jenkins and Gwendolyn, they are certainly holding the aces. Poor old Miles, he's going to burst his boiler soon over what he's discovered. Great plot Sandra, you've woven a great story, well done, blessings Roy

Thank you so much, dear Roy, I'm really so happy you are enjoying my story. I'm looking forward to writing Bessie's ghostie bit. :) Thank you, dear friend. :) Sandra xxx
I wonder, do you know if Ben Colder is alright? I haven't seen him on here for ages, but I know he was quite ill. I'm a bit worried about him. xx
-
I?m not sure Sandra, I know he was struggling,
-
He's not a member anymore. I think I'll write to him. I'm rather worried. Thanks, Roy. xx
-
Have you got his email address?
-
I think I have, is it... chuck180@ymail.com
I haven't emailed him for a while, we chatted away on here. I know his real name Chuck Ezell, so I'm pretty sure this is the one.
-
I think you may be right Sandra, he was talking about leaving, but he?s spoken of that before. I?ll check
-
Hi Roy, now I am worried, the email came back saying it was no longer active. I'll put a message on the forum, hopefully someone else knows how he is. I really need to know he's alright. xx
-
I know he yearned to join his dear wife, Sandra, thanks for trying.
-
I know. I remember when Mary died, he was devastated. I've put a message on the forum. Hopefully we'll get some news. Bless you, dear friend. xx

The nits all ran away and hid from me today apart from the 'he' in the last paragraph. I wondered whether you meant she? However, I found the revelation of the letters a bit confusing. I think a little more detail at that point might be useful. Otherwise, it was a fine write, with plenty of interest and plot development. Kate xx

Thank you, Kate, for another lovely review. The contents of the letters were revealed when Bessie found them in the solicitors office, and discussed it with Margot. But they will be brought up again when Miles confronts his father. I was really happy to read the nits had all run away! Lol. Thanks so much, my friend. Warm hugs, Sandra xx
-
Problem of me still not being up to date. I'm not as diligent as you. Sorry. Kate xx
-
Not at all, Kate, because of what you said. I decided to alter some of Miles confrontation. I always value your reviews. xxx

Hemlock in the garden can cause many body illnesses; a very dangerous plant which includes unconsciousness or coma; did you hear about this plant before or not until you wrote this chapter or story? Frightening.

I remembered an old 'Murder She Wrote' episode on the television, where hemlock was used to murder many people. I was trying to find a way to kill Gwendolyn's father and husband in a way that wouldn't be suspicious to the victims. I looked it up, as well. It truly is a deadly plant! Now I know what it looks like, I'll make sure I go nowhere near it. What is worrying is, it is very much like cow parsley, and as children we used to cut of the hollow stems and blow through them. Fortunately hemlock is not a native of the UK, but we do have some now that has been brought over from America. Why people would want to do that, I have no idea. Unless they have enemies. :)
Thank you so much for reading this chapter, and asking those questions. It's a good thing to know about and warn children not to touch. And a big thank you, Rosemary, for the six stars! That was so kind of you. Warm hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra xx
-
thank you. I never knew about the plant before.

Thank you for posting this even with all the energy required to recover! And this is a very satisfying chapter with Margot taking great steps forward to confront the murderers. Hopefully, Bessie will do something really shocking to shake that gruesome twosome.
It's good that Miles went to his good friend's home and perhaps with a more level head, they can forge a plan that would work best in confronting his father after he gets the information from that lawyer. Great job as always!!

I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter, Helen, when I posted it, I said to Graham, 'Here goes nothing! It will be fine, or full of errors.' He'd read it, and thought it was fine. But, he's my hubby, and he says everything I do is fine. Lol. He also knows how to put a smile on my face.
Thank you so much for this lovely review, Helen, and that golden star. Bessie will have the time of her life in the next part! I'm so pleased you are still enjoying this story. Thanks, my dear friend. Love and hugs. Sandra xxx
It took me a long time to write this one, I was still doing it at 4pm on Sunday. But I'm noticing that as each day passes, I'm improving. I will be at the hospital on Thursday and by then I'm hoping my oxygen levels will be acceptable. Once I'm over this washed out feeling, I'll really be able to concentrate on getting back to full health. Thank you for all your love and prayers. It truly does me a lot to me. xxxx
-
Oh - that's something specific to be praying about - your oxygen levels. Rest as much as you can, Sandra! 💖🙏

Bless your heart, Helen. You truly are an angel. Love you lots. xxxx
