Hi Helen,
I really enjoyed the rhyme scheme of this one, aaab/cccb/dddb. Does this have a name? or did you invent it?
I think of the Ukrainian mother we saw on a stretcher the other day, as rescuers carried her from a shelled maternity hospital. She and the baby died. So who to blame for that? God? Putin? a crazy world? Often, God will get the blame. But sometimes it's not Him. It's just mankind's sinful nature, possibly churned by Satan himself or one of his brood. No death is fair. Always reproachable. Nonsensical. Downright mean! We could blame Adam & Eve. But they are us.
Have you ever heard Don Francisco's song, "Adam, Where Are You?"
https://youtu.be/Llab0E7X-CI
Sometimes a mission is complete. Sometimes it's not.
Nicely penned, Helen!
Hugs,
Kimbob

Thank you, Kimbob! Appreciate the review! You always have a song for me! I'm so sad about the mother and child. On one hand, I want to blame Putin being used by the evil one. But this kind of evil has been in human history since Cain. Let's keep praying and following Him and believing He can change all. Hugs and blessings!

Yes. I think this is a good way to think of death:
God's mission for him was complete.
but as God calls us one by one
our Chain will link again
I like the unusual rhyming scheme here. What kind of poem is it?
Well done.

I don't know if this has a name. I just started writing and it became this way and I wanted to have a sense of the last lines connecting. The closest to this is the Constanza poem but that one is tercets and the first lines all rhyme and it has to have at least 5 stanzas.
Thanks for noticing the form and your kind comments, Lisa! Hugs!

Your poem is skillfully written, with an impressive rhyming pattern, and a strong message about death. We're only human; sometimes we ask why.
God's timetable is not ours. As your lovely poem says, God know when one's "mission is done."

Yes, He does know. It's hard to accept sometimes but He is trustworthy. Thanks so much, Janice! Hugs!

At first I thought you meant Linda herself had departed and I nearly had a coniption on the spot. So, the poor girl has suffered another bereavement so soon after losing her mother and a sister. It seems hard to bear to us, but the Bible says that "we are never tried beyond our endurance" so let's have faith that Our Linda will come through this "shadowed vale" and in time, smile again. I will PM Linda with my condolences.
Thank you for the heads up. Yours Cass

Another great poem to tease reader into a second read -- just to be sure nothing was missed the first time around. All I know about poetry is that I like it or I don't. Seems as if I always like yours. Well written and a pleasure to read. ann
