A very nice poem for this contest, good luck. I like the way it rhymes and it does tell a familiar story that the Irish did indeed immigrate outside of Ireland. I was a red-headed Irishman. Now I am just an old bald-headed Irishman! Good job.

I don't doubt for one moment that you have distant Irish heritage. For such a small island, we seem to have families in every corner of the globe. It never ceases to amuse me. Even Obama, for God's sake, although here in Ireland, we now spell his name O'Bama! :-) Nice poem, by the way.

I think you have written a lively poem for the contest that has a positive feel. Many people do not know what happened to their relatives over the years. This is a good description of your feelings of 'the wearin' o' the green' on Saint Patrick's Day. I always wear green. I am 23 percent Irish. But am mostly Scotish, I wear clad clothing on that day along with green.

Yes! Here's some fellow feeling from Tasmania. I have distant Irish relatives... I suppose. My great-great grandparents on Dad's mother's side came from there. This poem touches on that longing for a place we've not been, and where probably no one would recognise us...

My deceased husband was Irish. I get many comments about my last name. Dooley. My dad was born on March 17. So, I was hit with a double whammy, lol. I enjoyed your poem. And the picture is perfect.

love your St Patrick's day poem. I too have some Irish in my complicated family history of 18 different nationalities. Never been there and I want to go before I die. Also want to visit Scotland where I have distant relatives and Scandinavia.
