This is a good start to a novel. You have brought somebody back from the dead, only to kill them off again, definitively, creating drama. Also, with the introduction of the golden key you have engineered mystery.

Thank you, Katherine. Ah, the subtlety of misdirection. Elyse closed her eyes softly because of loss of blood. She will hang on to life in an induced coma while the mystery of the gold key unfolds. The gold key is the Macguffen and the ICU where Elyse fights for her life is the clock. Thanks again. Yard.

Last paragraph provides many possible directions this story could travel in from revenge to potentially several others.
Dramatically penned.
The question remains is Elyse really gone or ?

Ah, yes... Macguffin and the hook. I think you can see where this is going and I appreciate your sharp eye. Yard

This was a terrific and ever so dramatic, believable story. Good reading. Held my interest right through. Some spags for you.

How sad thst he found the love of his life, inexplicably returning after a mortar bomb took them both out, but mysteriously not him, but she returned five years later, but it looks like she's gone for good this time, but then, is she? I loved this very expertly written piece my friend, well done, blessings Roy

Yes, Roy, that is the question, isn't it? I'm sure there is an ICU somewhere with her on life support. Yard.
