Hmmm. And even though she has a freed up bedroom, she offered Scott's home? Without any prior notice - even a phone call?? That's just crazy! Like all your Scott stories, it shows how he seems to have "Doormat" spelled out on his forehead. Sigh. I hope someone else will offer help.

Sorry to say the gist is true--I fudged the fluff, as to his provisions. The woman is still there, making herself comfy. Mrs. Barr stays afar! Alas, her spare bedrooms have "stuff" in them.

Hello Liz,
It sounds like Scott has embraced a spirit of charity. I'm a firm believer in the law of sowing and reaping. Unfortunately we don't always reap what we've sown in what we would think is a timely manner. No good work goes unnoticed though. Would Scott consider accepting a monetary gift to help him in his ministry? Let me know please. Thanks Liz, entertaining as always.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom

So nice of you to offer! I'll ask him.

Scott is quite a good soul to give up his bed for someone in need. Mrs. Barr however, is generous as long as someone else pays the tab.
As usual, very well told and written.
Take care,
Mary

I was thrilled when he spoke up for himself--once he got going, I silently cheered him on (whilst biting my tongue). Alas, all for naught--the woman is making herself at home.

LOL, so I kept waiting for the kicker. Wha' hoppin? Did Scott let the young lady sleep in his bed or did he refer her back to Mrs. Barr? I gather from the title that it was enough for Scott to realize he had been "taken" by Mrs. Barr.

I think it's time for Scott to say bye-bye to the squatter, let Mrs. Barr know summarily, that he is not her Patsy, and then take a deeper look into the WHY of hs compassion. Something's at work there.

Indeed, he relishes the doormat role.

How generous Scott is and how caring. But what a shame this lady could not find such compassion herself to offer hospitality to some-one in distress. Seems quite selfish and hypocritical. well written story but sad as well.

Alright. Six stars for always excellent writing. Particularly here, where you present the hypocrisy of certain folk, why believe it is their lot in life to "appoint" themselves traffic cop...directing those in need to OTHERS who will do a good deed. Kind of a twist on that old saying?

CHARITY'S FINE! BUT, OH! NOT MINE!

    THANKSSSSSS!

I just inadvertently released this work-in-progress--the system defaulted to NO preview mode--i.e. it releases the piece as soon as the first SAVE--I had my default to hold until I'm ready, which option I'd Iocked in long ago, but something went awry yesterday and booted me out--when I logged in it reverted to the system default. I was shocked to see a five star review midway through my editing.

Yikes! My leprechauns were kidnapped the other day! Gone!. Kaput! I was waiting for a random demand but poof! They reappeared!
Mist have been gremlins in the system for awhile?

Your stories are peopled with almost unbelievable situations of others taking advantage of Scott's generosity. Mrs Barr showed herself to be one helluva selfish woman. I hope your stories are making readers assess their own responses to others' requests for help and instead of deflecting the task onto others they are prepared to offer kindness themselves.
If you are making these stories up then you have a terribly accurate insight into how people sometimes think it isn't their problem and they can't be bothered to be a good samaritan themselves.

I never use that preview thing, having been warned off it by other writers for its unpredictability. i always write my stuff off-site and then post it, sometimes tweaking in edit later.

My dad was a preacher and I remember him telling me, when I said I was broke, that I could go mow lawns for older people, etc. If you don't have cash, use your abilities. Good advice. Thanks for this one. :)

Hi Elizabeth,
This is a great insight into your friend, Scott's integrity and humanity to his fellow man and woman.

I loved that you shared this and his story, although short and to the point, very powerful in its intent.

Bless him, and bless you. Thank you very much for sharing such an uplifting story of unselfishness under adversity... and I guess, the true meaning of Christian. I enjoyed reading this very much.

With our thoughts we create...
the action of our conviction.

Kind regards,
James.
