Yes, Sir Cat lived. Read again. The pillow was buried, not Sir Cat. He was deemed most unfortunate though with the coming puppies.

This is charming--a fine entry for the contest--right up there with the best. As for the punchline--I love it, but it I don't know whether you're allowed to start a sentence with anything other than alternating fortunately/unfortunately.

This is a cute children's story. They will probably laugh at the dog's antics. A new dog of any kind usually delights kids. I hope Sir Cat didn't continue to be among the missing. If he was located that was fortunate. If he escaped to another home that didn't have a new pup, that was also fortunate. I would hate to see this story end on an unfortunate note. LOL
