A vibrant lovely write. Autumn has long called to my inner spirit. It is the season I feel most alive. I never thought of as death...more like a grand finale to summer heat and memories and a myriad of hopeful colors swirling and changing and warming my heart. Beautifully penned!--Karenina

Well, this is just lovely. so few of us do rhyming poetry these days, so I really appreciate your meter and your end rhymes...especially Millky Way with prey. Nice work, and I wish you great luck! As a fellow retiree/writer, we need all the support we can get! Have fun with it.
Nice accompanying artwork on this one, too, by the way.

Although it is not October I really enjoyed this beautiful fall poem and presentation. October is a beautiful month for me and many birthdays for my family. It is a time of change that I love very much.
Thank you for this and bless you in your writing and the new year, Sally XOs...

Thank you Sally for your encouraging review.
November seems to be our family month but it is not near as pretty as October.

It is nice to remember moments such as this. I like these lines the best: They linger in the autumn sky and give me chills
as twilight comes, the distant highlands seem to shrink.

This is a pretty poem about autumn. I was able to visualize the scene you described with the pink and gray clouds at dusk. I could hear the owl swooping in. I enjoyed the read. Hugs.

Hi JMF
A very descriptive and imaginative poem about the sun going down in October.
you have some great rhyming throughout which brings your poem alife, to me at least.
Take care and stay safe, Pete

A beautifully written poem. As the leaves turn into brilliant gems of color, the air cools, and soups simmer once again, it's time to enjoy the lovely October. And you start wishing it will stay on and on. Your poem rhymes well and descriptive. Thanks for sharing!

I like the milky way line. Good presentation. Good imagery especially the line about swirling leaves. It is nice that you still appreciate some older work. Thanks for sharing.

October sun brings so much melancholy, but also the tranquility of autumn: "
October's sun has set behind the lofty hills
and left a sea of smoky clouds, both grey and pink.
They linger in the autumn sky and give me chills
as twilight comes, the distant highlands seem to shrink." Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings.

You paint a lovely picture of Winter's spell. I especially liked the reference to the owl swooping down..."reverberating echoes on the edge of night."
It gives the poem nice action. Well done.
