-I am so sorry to hear this, Helen.
-I didn't think things were going
well because she had so much to fight,
but so much to give, as well.
-She added so much to this site,
especially with her travel cards.
-You wrote a beautiful tribute to her;
she and her family did love the railroad
journeys, the glorious birds, and her
view of the ocean.
-She had a beautiful spirit, and I
am very saddened.
-I will definitely write something,
but this all has to sink in first.

I love Joan and am surprised to read of her battle with cancer. Thank you for sharing it with us... I will pray that the Lord covers her with his peace and presence. Thank you, Helen.

Yes, she was so private. She wouldn't let me share with anyone. But since she knew about our cancer journey, she let me know so we cheered each other on. But I stopped hearing from her in late November. Thanks for reviewing. She passed away Monday. Please add your poem of tribute if you can since you knew her. Hugs!

I didn't know her, but I'm offering prayers for the family. It's so sad to lose another friend on FanStory. Too many in the last year or so. I miss Phyllis Stewart and Michael Cahill especially. I knew them best.

A tribute to a friend - what better story could be written. Your kind soul has been blessed with the friendship and your words tell her life to those that did not know her. My thoughts and prayers! Smiles and a hug to you, JoanE and all her friends.

Thank you, Beth. She passed away yesterday. You two had a lot in common - well-educated artists who write and had a happy marriage!
If it were so long ago, perhaps you don't remember her? Hugs!

Hello Helen, what a lovely write. A generous dedication to Joan. Reading your words, I hope she is OK. She did a lot of travelling and wrote about it
in haiku and tanka and it was a pleasure to read her work. But reading your author notes is very sad. Cancer, chemo, bad but lots of people recover and lead a normal life, but I found it alarming to read she has not opened her eyes in over a day. My prayers are with her, and her poor husband who must be feeling so worried. This world can be a sad place. 'Bye for now - keep in touch about Joan. Warm regards Dorothy xx

Helen,

I am reading this now to see what might be going on. I know you are stroking my ego because we know *have* to know how marvelous you are by now. But. On the other hand.

You know how I adore offering my thoughts as if they matter. Haha. Because I love FF so much I did see a couple sentences that could be tightened up (imo).

I am still lying next to one grand so it will be a bit but I am happy to do it. I am so upset. I had no idea about our friend and will have to struggle to find something appropriate to say. You have done beautifully, of course. Thank you for that. Hugs/-

Thank you, Robyn! I took some of your suggestions and modified a bit. I actually emailed that to her husband. But when the book feels complete, I'll print it and send it to him. Hugs!

A very well-written heartfelt poem about JoanE it is my second portion of bad news for today. My father's sister died early this morning of heart failure. My noughts are with the family of JoanE and may God comfort them with His will.

Yes, I counted that she wrote 341 poems but that was long before I joined. I didn't really know her until two years ago. Thanks for sharing and if you feel inspired to write something for this book, please do. I'll send it to her husband. Hugs!

I didn't know of Joan, but your tribute makes me want to know her. She sounds like a gem, not a flashy diamond but a lustrous pearl. I feel as though I missed out on something very special.

Ah. A pearl sounds right. She was very private and she didn't want others to know about her cancer. Thanks for caring.
I'm glad you're more active on Fanstory this year and hope you will meet many gems here. Hugs!
