Matt Wants a Rat

You write: - Matt sat and sat and wished for a rat.
He fell asleep just like the cat. Also a good place to sleep would be Matt's Fat lap. One word that's missing is Drat!

A very well-written phonic challenge story that children will love to listen to and teach them the sound of many things that sound the same but are different in many ways.

That was really fun to read. You chose a good topic and went with it all the way. I must try one of those one day. Being a cat lover, and a rat hater, I can understand Scat not wanting to catch one. At least Matt had his rat in his dreams. Lol. Well done, I enjoyed reading your poem, good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xx

This is so cute. I love the rhyming. Great job. I loved how Scat only wanted to nap and not chat. Cute and creative. Keep up the good work. So does Pat get a cat? Veenbee

I think kids would get a giggle out of this tongue twister. I don't know if I could read it with a straight face to my grandkids. It is fun anyway. Good job on this. It must have taken some time to put together.

This is a great kids story! I have to give you credit, phonics is not as easy as people think. Too bad this wasn't illustrated into a picture book, it would definitely sell.

Thank you for the high praise. When I was younger I always wanted to write kids books. That may be something to consider!

An adorably written phonetic challenge! Loved the use of the rhyming words and the great story line. You've created a fun story that would be perfect written as a children's book! Much luck in the contest!

Thank you for reading and reviewing my poem. It sure was fun to write! I appreciate the compliments. By any chance are you a teacher? This sounds like something a teacher would say!

Thank you for the kind words, but no, I'm not a teacher; however, my oldest daughter and granddaughter both teach kindergarten! I've always loved the art of rhyming poetry, especially for young children learning to read and comprehend grammar! Thanks again and have a wonderful day!

I like kids books that rhyme too. My degree in Elementary Education was mostly used to teach my ,now grown, daughters. You have a great day too!

This is really a fun rhyming poem and would be a lot of fun when children are learning to read and learning phonics. Really fun and, who doesn't like cats and rats? Having animals in a poem is always a good way to draw kids in.

I really liked this and the rhyme made it flow really well and it kept me engaged in your writing. I think I'd be on the cat's side, I'd just want to be left alone. A really well written piece. Good luck in the contest!
