For those of us beyond a certain age, that little red wagon brings back such fond memories. I remember pulling younger kids around in ours, and of course our dolls and doll clothes. I wish I still had one around for the grandkids. I think everything today is plastic!

    Hi Susan,
The only reason this wagon survived was because my parents had it at their house and kept it under a large awning behind their house. I didn?t realize it was there until after they passed away and I was cleaning. I don?t even know at what point it ended up there, but it was a welcome find.
    Thank you for your review,

The Potato Wagon
by davisr (Rhonda)

Hello, Rhonda,

I don't know why, your poem reminds me of a movie called, radio flyer. It was a great movie. I think there's something very melancholic about the little wagon. Maybe because it symbolizes childhood. Well done my friend.

Thank you, Gypsy. My husband actually loaded the wagon up with potatoes he was harvesting while I worked on another project. When I saw what he had done, I had to get a picture, and that lead to a poem. You know how that goes...
I appreciate your time to review,

There is something so nostalgic about a little red wagon. So many childhood trips took place in them paired with the imagination as described here in your work. It is wonderful to see the wagon repurposed as a potato wagon, such a helpful companion to a gardener as it still represents memories from times gone by.

So very true, my friend. I had one when I was little, too. I was so glad this one survived my children and the March of time.

    Take care,

The author's words are engaging, interesting, clear and creative.
I enjoyed the read of this poem. The words used were descriptive and
encouraged the reader to keep reading. The artwork is great and
compliments this poem well.

I have repurposed many of my sons old toys. LOL Thank you for sharing. I am glad you're enjoying your at home time. Many people in our town are doing the same thing. My husband has put out a garden since he retired from the military. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for your review, Barbara. I am enjoying the alone time, but it is beginning to wear on the nerves. Still, I'm lucky to be able to garden. Now, I have had a garden for years, but I've certainly upped my game with it lately, and never have I had so few weeds.

    Take care, and thanks again,
    Rhonda

Your potato harvest is amazing, Phonda. I enjoyed your fun poem. I remember red wagons--most boys had one. Your rhyming couplets work well to tell of this new life for yours. Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

Thank you for your wonderful review, Jan. I made the changes you suggested, and it sound so much better. In the original version, I did have boy at the end, so I don't know what I did, lol.

    Thanks again,

Your poem is excellent in every respect. It is skillfully and creatively composed and very descriptive--nostalgia at its best, but leading to the joys of present day.

Another excellent poem, Rhonda--and very imaginative approach telling the backstory of this wagon. What this red wagon must have seen--you know, if it had eyes and a brain--boy, you can't tell I've not had any coffee yet!

You are so very right, Mike, and with my boys, I'm surprised it still had wheels left on it! Take care, and thanks for reviewing,

Hello Poet, this is a lovely ode to a wagon that had a "life" rich in memories and experiences. I did wonder why some of the couplets lost the end rhyming, especially toward the end in the couplets 4 and 5. Was this intentional? Either way, I loved the detailed descriptions of the wagon's adventures.

No, I went for near rhymes on them to keep the creative flow. I had gone to the exact rhymes and then didn't like the message. I'm often picky about it, but not this time. Thanks for noticing and commenting,

A very well-written poem about a potato wagon born from a childhood toy which was left behind when the child moves on. If it can be used for something useful, why not?

Indeed, Sandra. I've found that on a farm, many things are repurposed. Thanks for taking time to review,
