I enjoyed reading this. Our creative efforts must be shown in order to be appreciated, even if they fail in some people's eyes, we had the courage to put it out there. Nice job. Marilyn

Thank you so much, Marilyn. I think some people might not comprehend the value of their work in that it can affect others in such a positive way--but there is also an element of fear that there could be negative reactions. Whenever we cherish something, it can be very hurtful if it is not understood or appreciated. Artists are most always sensitive individuals, which makes them perceive things on deep levels. I'm glad so many members here, especially the fledgling ones, put their work forward for others to experience. And, too, there is always a level of learning available for everyone to benefit from. :-)

Your point is well taken in this presentation and with your author's notes about unseen works. So many of us are on the cusp of certain artistic bents, that we do not pursue. Therefore we do have these first attempts hidden in a portfolio or in our den. So, we fail to claim ownership and fail to display. Well done.

I wish I had a review nomination left because your words are so well received and have brought sunshine into my day. They show your understanding of what this posting is about and are greatly appreciated, my friend. It would have been nice if I had retained more of my earliest work just as a comparison to where the path of progress has brought me. I love that we, as artists, are capable of continued learning and improving. Blessings always, Janet

This is a great concept that is expressed well in your 575 poem. Good luck in the contest, keep writing and stay safe. You are right that we need to keep reaching out to express our creativity. Bill

I admired your "withered vine" metaphor and hope you can find the courage to rewrite your play and share it at least on FanStory. Best wishes in the 5-7-5 contest- Joan

Your review and comments are very much appreciated, Joan. I'll think about doing the rewrite, but there's already so many other projects on my list...it's almost looking like a bucket list! lol
-
You obviously have your priorities--do not add pressure to your life--only consider a rewrite if time permits. Smiles- Joan

Time is both friend and foe. If only.....

A moving piece for all of us writers who may be afraid or full of self-doubt to share a work. For whatever reason, a work that isn't shared can be withered on the vine. Great illustration for your poem! Virtual six!
Hope you do well in the contest!

Hello Janet. That's an interesting question you pose. Some of the greatest works may still be lying in a place undiscovered. We don't know if they are the greatest because we don't know they are there.
Your poem certainly complies with the 5-7-5 style and I like the message. Good luck in the contest.

I think there are many great works that remain undiscovered Janet and I am hoping this does not happen here on Fanstory as stories are aired and seen by many eyes, I enjoyed your poignant words here, love Dolly x

The one good thing about losing my eyesight is the value of a day. I waste very little time and write as fast as my poor eyes will let me. I wish I could post everyday, but I simply don't have the money. I always like to give something to thank my dear reviewers for their time. I dearly hope you'll rewrite the play for your own satisfaction if for no other reason. I have learned to enjoy that part as well. Both reading and writing are incredibly satisfying to me. A gift.
Sending you my best today as always, and best wishes for the contest,
Sally xoxo

Thank you greatly, Sally. I have thought several times about a rewrite, but I can't remember the exact words I used to start start the play and they were special. If they come back to me, maybe I'll be able to start over. Meanwhile, I have so many other projects going on that my time and enthusiasm is directed there. (The play was a spiritual one and I'm consoled by thinking that it surely was pleasing to the Lord.) It was years ago, and I'm actually okay with it, especially when I think of all those people who lose everything valuable to them in a tornado or fire. I hope your are staying safe and well, my friend. xoxo

I went to nominate you as a reviewer, dear Sally, but just found out I had already done it earlier this month! lol

Artistic Creations Kept Hidden

Hello my friend
This well crafted 5/7/5 is very clever and thought provoking. Is an artwork art if it's never seen and appreciated? Good syllable count and line connection.

You pose an interesting question...but of course, the artist has seen it so I think it is true. Thank you so much for your super review and comments! :-)
