Liz,
What a great way to end the old year and start the new. I loved this story. The part about your mom was hilarious. You apparently didn't take after her, unless you're adept at photo-shopping your picture. It's refreshing to not have to keep a resolution, simply because you don't make any. Joining Fan Story has been quite the ride so far, in large part because of you. I hope you continue to bless us with your wit and humor.
Have a safe and happy New Year.
Blessings

Thankssssss Tom!
This was printed in my local paper two years ago--I'd sent it to the editor as a year-end thank-you gift for his having printed several of my letters over the prior months--I was floored to see it appear when publication resumed mid-January.

All kids seem like bulls in china shops and I am always nervous when I take my Grandson shopping just in case he breaks something! I enjoyed this personal story Elizabeth, you always amuse me, love Dolly x

As youngsters we would decide together on our new resolutions. It was always a big discussion and an even bigger decision. These days I never give it a thought. X

We'd super-size our shoes at Thom McAn
This was a fine glimpse into the past. It conjured up memories of my own. Like stuffing my shoes with cardboard when the soles wore through,
Ahh memories sometimes the best ones are over. I'm glad they happened though.
Excellent read. Flowed nice and great imagery

I always like to read personalised stories, for the most, the social kind that brings a smile, and this is no exception.
A nice thing to read. Pleasure.
Have a happy New Year.
My best

LOL, yes you make a really good point. But even with such good advice, I do think I will be resolved to give up hubris. All it ever does is get you in trouble. Trouble like hubris, I do not need. Very Good Job.

As always, you have a very amusing submission with the perfect answer to the new year's resolution problem. Nice picture, too. Have a blessed new year.

What a great piece. I love the way you work in the image of the bull in the china shop, one of my favorites as I can imagine myself being just like that.
I see your point about resolutions too, they can be hard to keep and often feel like a waste of time. Good on you for making this final one!

As a bull in the china shop myself, I really love this piece. Personally, it provides some validation that it's okay if I'm not always too careful. If some glassware gets broken now and again, it's worth the carefree experience.
