Thank you, kahpot, for giving this a look. Bill

Your little story reminds me of my son, about five, playing goalie. The only goal he scored in that season was when he dribbled the ball accidentally went into the goal he was defending (-;
So fact is better than fiction!

Soccer at this age seems to be about distinguishing a ball from someone?s shins and knowing that different colored uniforms mean more than a fashion statement.

Awe, Bill, this is just too sweet. I loved it. Those kids are so enthused and it shines through every single word. I really liked it. I wish you the best of luck in the contest. All best. Ulla:))

This heart warming story is very reminiscent of accounts where someone who is favored for whatever reason is allowed to shine on the field of play because of some physical or mental problem that is relieved by assisted accomplishment.

Soccer at this level is meant to teach parents how to act in public.

Good one. So how well has it worked on you?

By now I?m persona non grata most places.

Bill, This is a very well written 80 word story you have penned for the contest. It was easy to follow with very good words you used. Best wishes in the contest. Blessings, Teri

Oh, that happens quite often with those little ones .... it's even happened with some of the older ones! ;) I coached my boys' soccer teams and those kids are so very focused and 'into it' when they're on the field that it's hard to get their attention sometimes!! ;) :) Thanx for sharing, Sir Bill, and best of luck in the contest! ;) Yvette

This is a cute story with a cute picture to go with it. You finish a complete thought with it ending as Emily makes her goal. This is difficult to do with the word restriction. Keep writing.

This meets the contest requirements splendidly as you deliver a complete and engaging story in exactly 80 words. I thoroughly enjoyed this as the vision of four-year-old soccer players was delightful. Good luck in the judging and thank you very much for sharing it.

This is an enjoyable read -- especially as the main character is a girl and this is a soccer match. I think it's important not to stereotype, and you've avoided this here {smiles}.
Good luck with the competition {smiles}.

Nice message. Little kids cheer when ANYONE wins. They have no idea of competition. That changes soon enough, though, usually encouraged by competitive parents. I've always thought our culture contains too much competition and not enough working together so everyone benefits.

Even at four the helicopter parents are there to get their child all the positioning and recognition that can b3 afforded absolute beginners. Kick the ball!
