You did a great job getting the story down in fifty words, but then again, as an English teacher, you should be an expert with words! At least the quarterback must have respected you, even if others didn't.

This is excellent. He knew who exercised the best judgment and helped form his life. I bet he didn't become one of the millionaire ingrate thugs that the sport is full of.

I guess the lesson here is stand up for your principles.
Pass or you cannot play Friday --I think this needs quotation marks.
I appreciate the terseness in the rest of this.

It remains a crying shame that public school officials place their star athletes playing sports above their education. Would have fully supported your stance including quitting after the admin made the wrong decision. I also taught for seven years until I got sick of fighting with the administration over, you guessed it, much the same thing. I never would have passed any student, star athlete or not, if they failed the class simply so they could turn around and play in an athletic endeavor. If "Clay" made this comment, you certainly influenced him in a positive manner. That must count for something from your teaching experiences. This one hammers the nail right smack dab on the top of the head. I don't offer many sixes but this one deserves one if only for the actions you took both in the classroom, and in this contest. WELL DONE!

Good job, Loanna. Your little story, as required, hints at the problem facing many teachers. I believe Clay learned that you were right. He needed his education as something to 'fall back on', if and when his sports careers plays out. Thanks for sharing. Best wishes. Jan

Hello Loannalois, what a great entry for the dribble flash fiction. I really appreciated it, especially in the light of it being a true story, the truth is stranger than fiction, that's for sure. Lol
I noticed no errors and I have no suggestions for improvement.
Tha's a five-star rating from me and best of luck in the competition, cheers, Ana

it is a great story and it is too bad it is limited to so few words. I like that you stuck to your guns, I guess the coach did too. interesting read, Loanna...........meeshu

Lo,
Wow. That would be a rather high pinnacle in life, wouldn't it?? A moment that means your life meant something-- you MATTERED.
I bet you were a great teacher. Thank you!
