-Good image.
-I like the poem very much,
as there is humor, Shakespeare,
the word you would save, and
effective rhyme.
-You use the word well, and make
a good point in Romeo and Juliet.
-A good entry; good luck.

Hello Don,
If this contest was being judged, rather than voted on,
I think you would win easily.
(and abscond with the prize money)
But, alas, (another fine word, much like abscond)
that is not the case, and voters will be voters,
as friends will be friends,
and many a lesser entry has absconded with the prize.
But more discerning voters and reviewers
would surely provide a much happier ending.
Alas, poetry's labors are often lost
and in the end it is much ado
about nothing more than a few member dollars
Excellence
Best wishes to you, my friend

Hello again, Robert.
Alas, cautionary alert is proving to be prophetic. I didn't realize that the contest isn't blind (and therefore promoted the entry), which, unfortunately, as you said, invites non-qualitative voting motivations.
At present, it appears that "Abscond" may finish out of the money.
One consolation will be that the reviews have been outstanding, the best of my FS tenure. Your friendship and support is another.
Don

This is a witty and whimsical approach to the contest--imaginative and fun. Great word choice! This saves the most famous literary pair of lovers of all time.
Enjoyed.
NOTES:
Nice (parenthetical) poetic preface:
(The prompt calls for choosing a single word;
Dredging up a hundred would be absurd.
Why waste the readers' time and mine,
when one good poem should do just fine?)
This made me chuckle:
(He didn't care much for happy endings
(with exceptions worth defending).
Clever:
'Abscond' is worthy, I trust you will agree;
Too bad it can't be used retroactively.
Perfect closing:
Had The Bard but put that word into play,
His dead lovers might be living today.
Good flow and fine rhymes!
Good luck in the contest.

Thank you, Rama, for your thorough evaluation of 'Abscond.' I hope you liked it. ;)
-
Of course I liked it. Thought the review would make that obvious!
:-)))
-
Nope. You could have at least used few superlatives if you really liked it, Rama.
This here apostrophe and bracket is another wink: ;)
-
Not sure if you're joking? What are these is not positive, enthusiastic responses:

(Sigh) Rama, that review was splendid, superb - so obviously extraordinarily praiseful, I couldn't resist replying with "I hope you liked it," adding a wink, lest you took my uncertainty seriously.
When you answered, I hoped you were playing along, and I followed suit. I still suspect your apparent confusion is feigned. (Re-Sigh.)
All kidding aside, thank you for your fantastic review, so good, so special, I felt the need to repay you with a chuckle -I've been over the FS quota for those 'Review Nominations' for over a week - and I think I may have fallen short there, too. I did love tht review!
-
Hee hee...I was playing along but must confess I was not certain--and I am glad to hear it was indeed satirical fun. Thanks for the thumb-though, but i won last month, so would not be eligible this time. Next month I would be. One can only win every second month, never twice in a row. So I am glad your thumbs went to support potential winners of this month. Warmest Smiles, rd

"Hee, hee," indeed!
I'll not play poker with you, so, if you don't mind, don't ask!

Smileycloud, this is the best of all the reviews for 'Abscond,' and I can't even thank you with a 'Nomination,' because I have exceeded the paltry 6-a-month quota. So just a plain old, inadequate thank you. Thank you.
-
yes LOL
Paltry is right
There are so many supportive and insightful reviewers who are really encouraging that one wishes to give that extra Thanks
but alas mine is gone in the blink of an eye
same with so many great poems and (6) GONE so quickly
have a smiley day

I really enjoyed reading your save a word entry. "Abscond". You rhymed it well and I found it very cleverly put together so I think six stars will show my appreciation.
All the best.

A clever write and appropriate entry for the competition and I agree with your sentiments entirely, with new words appearing on social media now, our language is evolving faster and many words will be redundant, love Dolly x

Don, I see where you're going with this 'Save A Word' contest entry. The thought did not Abscond my mind. I think that is the first time ever that I have written the word even though I know it. You could be onto something here Don. Good job on this fun and fancy entry. Best of luck in the competition. ~DD

Thanks for your support, DD. I'm glad you approve of 'abscond' as an under-used word. It's so under-used, you've forgotten your familiarity with it. Look it up, and get reacquainted.
Hugs,
Don

Thank you for your warm comments, Rainy. Yes, old Shakespeare had a thing for messy endings, but I think you would do a better re-write than I, given your sensitivity to the issue and exceptional creative skills.
-
Oh my, thank you.....but Romeo and Juliet is as far as my Shakespeare ever went, ha ha...

LOL oh my and when you stop to think about what you just wrote, after the laughter and the head nodding were done, it makes sense

Thanks for thinking it through, Barb. Many of the reviewers haven't a clue to how 'abscond is used, and, as evidence, mangle it.
