-Very intriguing image.
-Well penned poem, Tony, that
combines the mushrooms with
the faerie folk and fey.
-The progression and flow of the poem is excellent.
-Good imagery, rhyme, and alliteration:
"Their dormancy of dreams undone by dance"
"All those who enter in are trapped by fey"
-I don't know if you are familiar with W.J.Debi's story
"The Piper." I am learning about the faerie folk and fey.
It is written very well and she gives background for each chapter.

I like this nod to Celtic folklore/pagan religion. It is good that you supply a magic reason for this circle of mushrooms and explain what happens in a fairy circle.
I have found the if you remove and tree and its stump that mushrooms grow around where the stump was for a few years.

I love the element of mysticism in your writing, "Beware all those who step within this ring." Rhyme and rhythm were also very much on point.

I think this form is perfect for your theme. the rhymed quatrains give it that dance movement of repeating steps. The language is nicely stitched in the meter, and the pastoral romantic images really capture that sense of magic, the mystery of the moment of young love. The curtain's drawn. lovely ending. Sensual image in the mushrooms. nice job constructing this. estory

Like the poem but had some probs with the use of lambent, suspect that might have driven some readers to the dictionary. All in all, nice poem. The last verse, masterful and an excellent closing. Still debating between 5 and 6...lambent thing keeps popping into my mind.

I appreciate your review and kind words. I thought lambent, gleaming or flickering with a soft radiance, an apt description of leaves at or shortly after dawn with the sunlight playing on them. Still, as you say, not a particularly common word these days. Best wishes, Tony.

Do like the poem...lambent and all.

I always wondered about those mushrooms-in-the-round. Are they poisonous? I wonder if they cause hallucinations.
You've accurately described those I find in my front yard.

Many thanks, Marvin, for your kind words. Most affirming and appreciated. I think that several different kinds of fungi grow in rings, some edible and some not so. I imagine that eating them is more dangerous than stepping inside the circle! Best wishes, Tony - Edit Reply
