I'm going to bookcase this as it is so delightfully written. It would have to be one of the best nonsense poems I have ever read, including works by Ogden Nash, Edward Lear and the master himself Lewis Carroll. There is a narrative, a beginning, a middle and an end, set in delightfully barely understandable words and utterly charming pictures of baby sloths that set the whole thing off perfectly . Well done cheers Cass

I love this. So much fun in lyric and rhyme. Sloths are the greatest animal and they would all be proud to be the sloth of you tale. Just a fun and happy read, well, maybe the ending line is not for the uptight reader.

I loved the well manicured poetic artistry of this unusual work Bill. In the foreground is the sloth's slow, wending, but it's really about the backstory of a decaying society that seems to be the thrust of the work. I'm most impressed with the inventive language. Written in general couplet rhyming, but some variation in verse, rhyming and stanza size, make for a good read, well done, blessings, Roy

Why, that sloth is a handsome fellow. No disqualifications, eh? No rules. At any rate this poem has a rollicking beat and a humorous nonsense content. Excellent.

Bill,

This is funny! Thank you; I'm doing a marathon of reviews, and I'm tired :P

Loved these parts and more but don't want to paste all your poem:
A sloth was shaving his face one year,
and may have finished, it isn't clear,
by the time he arrived, in the November snow,
the sheriff had joined a reality show
called the Real Housewives of Cleft, Idaho.
The sheriff droned on about the jurisdiction,
and suggested that the pikkered fwen was mere fiction,
to which sloth retorted in sloth-perfect diction
that the sheriff had a head-in-his-asshole affliction.

Ha ha - this is not only entertaining, but impressive how you've
kept the rhythm and rhyme to this unique little story in a poem, Bill -
something really different that drew me in - great presentation altogether...
just wish I had a six it deserves.

Good luck with the contest, my friend.

Margaret

What a tongue twister. A great test for actors to learn how to speak distinctly. The content's so silly, it made me think of Lewis Carroll's The Jabberwocky. Children would delight in hearing this.

Hahahaha...
I have no clue whatsoever concerning what the hell I just read is about, Bill.
But it kinda reminded me of a bawdier version of a Theodor Seuss Geisel poem.

So, let me see if I've got this straight. You know...for posterior's sake?

The shaving sloth was in reality a naked and nervous kaloopolo
with pikkering paste all down his papoopogo? And when he unzipped his sloth suit to reveal himself to the world, the reality TV show, The Real Housewives of Cleft, Idaho, went through the stratosphere.

Am I smellin' what you're cookin' here?
If so, I'm damn glad that I didn't step in it, heh-heh-heh.
Good luck!

Actually, the guilty kaloopolo was disguised as Sheriff Yosemite Sven.

Wow, Bill; this was wonderfully penned and highly entertaining. The images you created with your words were great, and the story within the lines made me laugh out loud.

I wish you well in the contest - this highly original piece should be a great contender,
