Ah, Gypsy, this is a fine, vivid haiku. I can picture the locusts gathering at a shallow spring among growing lilies. Your satori is ingenious and clever. Your words are well chosen to paint a picture and a mood.
Thank you for sharing your haiku. It provided me with a rest stop for my morning.

I have a memory of when I ran away at sixteen. I was walking on a short bridge, there was a pond where frogs, dragonflies, and locusts plus many other life forms resided. I felt like just a small part of creation.
Thank you, for sharing this.

Oh, those Lilies on the pond, they've grown so full and spread to cover all the open space. Now, I can't find a spot to place my bait. Childhood memories of a boy on the water's bank. Sometimes it's amazing to me how so few words can dredge up so many thoughts hidden deep beneath the surface of our minds. Great job. :-)

I never thought of it this way before. I guess you could say lily pads are kind of like people rest stops in reverse. Instead of stopping at a watering hole, frogs stop at a dry spot.

Thank you so much for sharing your well penned haiku about the blossoms of lilies. Your presentation enhances the words well. Within the lines of the poem, we are reminded to stop and enjoy the scenery.

Ah, Gypsy,
A haiku about one of my cousins! Locusts are highly mobile and usually fly with the wind at a speed of about 15 to 20 kilometers per hour (9.3 to 12.4 mph). Swarms can travel 5 to 130 km or more in a day. Locust swarms can vary from less than one square kilometer to several hundred square kilometers with 40 to 80 million individuals per square kilometer. An adult locust can consume its weight (several grams) in fresh food per day. For every million locusts, they eat one ton of food.
A fun read.

Gypsy Blue Rose, this is a good Haiku poem. Lilies are a beautiful flower and this piece allows for emotion of the reader at the thought of the poor flower getting devoured by hungry locusts...or will they? Are the locusts just resting before their journey onwards leaving lilies left to blossom. The plot thickens....you got me thinking now. Thanks for the thought. ~DD
