You have a wonderful inspiring story here. I love your rich details and great plot. I feel as if I am part of you family. I love all the historical facts you have. One last thing I like is how you put the Italian phrases in the writing with th translations. Great story.

I enjoyed reading about your great grand parents. I do not like all the negativity about immigrants in today's news. I believe that most immigrants are hard working productive people like your great grand parents. I admire your great grand father for working hard and sponsoring others to come here.

Hello, my friend,
"ginneys, wops, and degos"? wow, who makes up this names?
I like how descriptive your writing is..."She looked at the ceiling as she gathered her thoughts."
I am an immigrant and my aunts were immigrants. This country was founded by us and it's shameful the way stupid Donald bans or tried to ban.
Good job, be proud of your heritage, Italy is a beautiful country and Italians are beautiful people.

Hi Gypsy; I am so glad that you enjoyed this story. 'the Donald' needs to read history books. Our country is built on the backs of brave immigrants working hard to find a new way of life. I hate to think of our borders becoming closed by idiocy.

Excellent! This is an inspiring story, an example of "the American Dream", with your family growing and prospering through their hard work and perseverance, despite the prejudice and discrimination they faced.
Nothing needs changing, except possibly the very last sentence. At my great grandparents compound -- should be hyphenated, and add an apostrophe to make it a plural possessive -- At my great-grandparents' compound...
Keep writing!

What a fabulous story. I sometimes wish times were like back when you didn't have credit cards and worked and raised your family. No debt so you can save. I know it was hard, but people had much better values. Great story.

Patty, you are blessed to know so much about your family history. I have had to do so much research to find much of my ancestry. Both of my grandmothers were orphans. My grandmother did find her mother when she was about forty and learned a lot, but that's another story. It's a shame that the family property was lost. I did enjoy the read.

Hi Elaine; it sounds as though you had to play detective to find out about your roots. I'm very lucky to know so much about my mother's side of the family. My father's side is more of a mystery. Thank you for stopping by to read and review this story; I'm glad you liked it,

They were so young and adventurous to travel so far ...and brave.
So, you have many Italian relatives, Patty?
It's rather sad that the property had to be sold.
A story well told, my friend.
Blessings,
Margaret

Good morning, Margaret; yes, I have tons of Italian relatives. My mother broke with tradition when she married a southerner with welsh and scottish roots. Since she was supposed to marry an Italian that her grandparents picked, she was shunned a bit. Thank you for stopping by to read and review. I appreciate your positive comments,

My husband has Welsh blood and I have Scottish roots. Most interesting story, Patty - it deserved a six, but I'm all out already - Tom should allow us more. Smile.

PS - It's l.50pm over here.

LOpL! I wasn't sure where you were. I must not have paid attention when I read your bio. I was just impressed with your accolades.

I will take a virtual six anyday - thank you! Its the thought that counts,

It's quite unbelievable to think of a 16 y.o. and a 14 y.o married and travelling to the other side of the world. They were hard workers and this is a great story to get written for future generations. Well done Patty, I'm sure the family will love it,
cheers,

Hi valda; I can't even begin to imagine some young people from today's world moving to a new country and starting a productive life. Too many people think they deserve everything be handed to them. I loved writing the story that was handed down to me. Thank you for reading and the lovely review,
