This was very well done. I have been a great fan of Emily Dickinson since I was a teenager. I "portrayed" her in a college history class, reading some of my favorite poems of hers, and answering questions of classmates in "character". It was a great learning experience and made me like her even more.

    Hi Lancer:

With your knowledge of Emily I am especially appreciative of your comments. How fun to portray her in a college project. Sounds like a fantastic assignment. Thank you for taking the time to read and review.

You're welcome, Kim. I used this poem to open my project "in character". Oh how I wish there was videotape back then.....

Because I could not stop for Death ?
He kindly stopped for me ?
The Carriage held but just Ourselves ?
    And Immortality.

We slowly drove ? He knew no haste
    And I had put away
My labor and my leisure too,
    For His Civility ?

We passed the School, where Children strove
At Recess ? in the Ring ?
We passed the Fields of Gazing Grain ?
We passed the Setting Sun ?

Or rather ? He passed Us ?
The Dews drew quivering and Chill ?
For only Gossamer, my Gown ?
My Tippet ? only Tulle ?

We paused before a House that seemed
A Swelling of the Ground ?
The Roof was scarcely visible ?
The Cornice ? in the Ground ?

Since then ? 'tis Centuries ? and yet
    Feels shorter than the Day
I first surmised the Horses' Heads
    Were toward Eternity ?

I've read and studied her for many years, and this one is my favorite poem.

I've always loved that poem. My high school American Lit teacher told me that my writing reminded him of Emily Dickinson, I was 16... of course, I've been hooked on her ever since. That one has long been a favorite.

Well-written poetry and contribution to Emily Dickinson. There is so much we can say ad teach others through poetry. Interesting historical notes.

Emily has inspired many to write poetry. I really appreciate your tribute here. It's fun to imagine her coming into your house as a guest bearing gifts she made or grew. A nice job of emulating her style of poetry.

    Hi Michael:

Well, I suppose that depends on what 'writing like this' means? :) You'll have to delve into my portfolio and answer that question for yourself, I think. I've been hanging here about ten years or so now, it keeps me off the streets lol

Thank you for the lovely review.

    *hugs*

I enjoyed reading your poem. From the notes you shared, I have to say that your words tell a great and true story about her. Good job on the color scheme and super image. I like the red for her poem included in your lines. Your poem reads well as a stand alone poem and as a fitting tribute to Emily Dickinson. Good job and thanks for sharing.

I enjoyed reading your authors notes as much as I enjoyed reading your poem. You put a lot of time and research into this work.
