What a great imaginative leap to get from the evocative piece of driftwood to the myth of the valiant Saint George. The poem itself show this process in action.

Thanks for sharing the notes about him - I would have been hard-pressed to remember anything bar his dragon-killing skills!

An unusual form you have chosen, but a pleasing one. The longer line brings each stanza to a satisfying close.

That is a great pic in it's own right and I can surely see the dragons head in the tree trunk. I am an avid fantasy reader and love the lore of the dragons of old. This is a nice piece work that flows well and is a fun read

Well done, Trieschel. Wonderful poem that was uplifting when the first thing I saw was the eye, then the dragon's head. And then your recounting the story of St George was especially interesting for me, as my partner George can be a bit of a dragon when the mood takes him. But once Sunday church visit is over, he is like a lamb and such a pleasure to live with. LOL

Interesting history about Saint George. Your Sestet is creatively written. It has good rhyming abd tells a little story. I also sometimes find some extraordinary things in nature.

I love this Tom,
this photo is great... a dragon's head, very easy to see.

love this part:
What remnant shard of ancient lore?
I can't believe what's from the tide,
So evidently petrified.
Its presence there can't be denied,

well done Tom
