I know no other way to write whether a poem or a story. I write from the big three, heart, mind and soul. My poems are not some complicated gibberish. Poems that people can understand and use as an inspiration. When you read me, you don't have to scratch your head to figure out what my message is. This I will never change.

Until this excellent contest entry was posted, I never expressed myself like this. Good luck with this contest. It is very good and worthy of a win,,,,Jim

The title and the first line of the poem invites us into exploring the meaning of poetry. The style is simple - the expressions heart and soul are central to the answer. 'Words- written" has a nice alliteration. I'd personally prefer a bit more complicated last line - but I have a flare for (sometimes unnecessary) complexity.

"pouring from/seeping through/ filtered through/ glowing from etc their heart and soul" But again, that's just my biased approach - and no matter what, your poem is lovely and expressive!

Hi lightink I really appreciate you thoughts and comments for this poem. I really went for a very basic statement with this and despite the amount of complexity in many poems they are still all written from the heart and soul. I can appreciate complex but I find them sometimes esoteric only to the writer and not the reader. But I really appreciate your support and send a big Cheers Christine😃

G'day Christine. Perfectly said mate. I learned many years ago that poetry, no matter how expertly or poorly written is a great stress relief and that one simple little piece (which none of mine seem to be lol) often leads to many more and the "flow" continues.

I guess I can understand poets writing about poetry ... maybe a little. However, the thought always strikes me when I read this genre, that the poet ought to find more fetching subjects than writing about writing.

The content of the subject work is somewhat mundane and does not grip the reader as excellent poetry should.
