Thanks Vance not sure we have met before. This was an old post I edited a bit today. Also now having become Coeliac )Americans spell it Celiac Sigh) and no longer enjoying these wonderful Aussie delicacies. Glad you enjoyed it. Will look for your stuff as well.

Come on! I thought we were fans now. I love your writing. Lighten up. I have spent a lot of years around American Preachers and their wives I used to do a fake Amurrikan Accent that probably did the fifty states in there somewhere Oh me. This is an ancient story I recently upgraded.

Hey thanks mate! The Americans get los on pies they think Fruit Mince Pies! Yuck! But then this is the subject I forgot. Should have seen the fun we had with the Yanks and Rebels in Louise's Trip stories when we first mentioned Pies hehe!

Yeah, here is South Africa we also have meat pies. What the Americans have as pies is normally some kind of tart here. This is well written.

I couldn't read the ingredients. Are these made with beef, pork or chicken? Wish I could try one. Another treat you have, that I read about, is Tim Tams. Some kind of cookie I guess. I may have to order some of these food, just to check them out.

Beef Pies. In England they have Pork Pies. You can get Chicken and Curried Beef and Steak Tomato and Onion pies. Funnyou should ask we had some Tim Tams today. Seeing Campbell's the American company took over Arnotts that make Tim Tams I am surprised you don't have any. They are chocolate coated with chocolate biscuit and chocolate cream in side. Thank you for the education on meat pies. I always enjoy learning about other countries. It's fun. While traveling back from Chicago, my husband and I took Amtrak and ate lunch with a wonderful man from Australia. He's a teacher there was studying our government.

We watch a British TV series "Pie in the Sky" in which the chef's favored dish is steak and kidney pie. I could go for the steak, but not the kidney. The Big Ben looks different from our pot pies. Interesting post, and you remind us of the language differences in our countries. Mince pie used to be a Christmas dish, but haven't had one in a long time. No meat in the mincemeat now. judi

Hi Sankey,
It is funny how words can take on a different meaning in a different country. In USA we have pot pies which are meat and veggies. But, you're right 'pie' usually refers to a fruit or cream/pudding dessert.
Nurse a baby-- That gave me a laugh. I can only imagine the look on the American's face. lol

Yeah she was a Missionary wife had been in the country for a while. Should have known. She tends to be a bit full of her self and push pastoral authority to the enth degree as well. Tip Top is the only square pie. Others are round. No veggies though. Thanks again.
