You are so right here, Spitfire. I don't know how many times after watching something, all I really remember is the funny commercials. But then again, they bombard you repetitively all through the night, and it seems like its 5 minutes worth of show and 15 minutes worth of commercials. Good point that makes for a great poem, Spitfire.

Thanks, husky. You're right about the time frame. But some are so hilarious or mysterious. I still don't understand what the wife says to her husband in one commercial. She talks too fast, I guess. Can't remember the product either.

Hey. Yeah well, I have given up on TV. I just watch the commercials on Youtube, especially the super Bowl ones. Go figure:-)
I don't know what this image is...but then, I am kinda out'a the loop...

Guess the super Bowl commercials have to be the best. But do you remember the product after watching it?

Ha! You are so right about the dull sitcoms. I hardly watch them. And with the ability to record multiple shows, I now pick and choose what I want to watch and that also gives me the luxury of fast forwarding commercials. Even if I do watch a cute commercial, it doesn't inspire me to buy their product. Can't believe all the money they spend. I don't recognize the picture, sorry. I am rambling, aren't i? I should have used this for a post today. Lol

I love the record device on my remote and for the most part do fast forward. Yes, they may be cute, but do they sell the product?

It's a sad commentary on the shows when we remember the commercials more than the stories. I can't think of any commercials right now that I really remember. It's the old jingles that stay with me. I hardly ever watch sitcoms any more, but the promos I see for some of them look pretty weak. "Creative commercials" has excellent alliteration, but "creativity" seems what's lacking in many of the shows. Even "Saturday Night Live" isn't what it used to be. Last line is great. Sometimes the ad is so clever we forget what the product name. judi

You got it! Not sure others did. Sitcoms today aren't funny at all. Thanks for noting the alliteration. :-)

I guess that's why I don't watch sitcoms any more. I used to love shows like "Mary Tyler Moore" and the "Cosby" show. I don't like the way blacks are portrayed in a lot of instances. judi

It is both cute and curios, but I don't have clue. Very clever poem that put a great big smile on my face. Great work with this one, as with all your poem.

Thanks, Sasha aka Valeria and all your other nom de plumes. Since the duck wears a gas mask, maybe it's about deodorant?

That helps, but which deodorant?????

this is true, tv is really at its worst, reality is so ridiculous, even the news can make situations worse with its constant coverage of events, no errors

Thanks, joann. You said it all. "There's nothing on," to quote my husband.

KFC? There's a good deal more money and thought goes into the creation on an advertisement on national TV than ever goes into a sitcom. No wonder the products are shinier.

Very good point, Tony. The sitcom writers have to turn out a script every week. Hard to put a gloss on that.

As an old ad writer, I take both pride and shame from your poem, Shari. I take pride that ads often out 'create' the content they sponsor. On the other hand, many otherwise great commercials offer exceptional entertainment value, but fail miserably when it comes to promoting the product.
Most sitcoms are weak because the characters are cardboard, and the writers value cheap yuks over heart.
I have no clue as to the character pictured.
Peace, Lee

I like your take on this. You're so right about failing to promote the product. I can't remember the last time I bought something based on the ad. Sounds like a fun job. How did you like it?
-
I loved the ad business. L

I bet you were damn good at it, too.

Lol! I don't have a clue. Perhaps it's a duck that got its beek stuck in a horn, and can't get all of it off.
Another great 5/7/5 with an excellent point. Half the adverts I watch these days are highly entertaining, although I can never remember what they were advertising afterwards if the name of the product isn't mentioned enough. As you suggest, they often entertain more that some programmes.

K mart has a new one out that's repeats the same message over and over, but I can't remember it now. All I can think of it "How obnoxious!"

LOL! My hubby and I were just talking about these "creative" commercials today. They're fun to watch, but you never remember what they're selling!
Good one... everyone knows what you mean! :)

Whew! Good to hear that. Wasn't sure readers could take the leap. So far, so good.
